Yes, but usually only for caching. Different GPU's also allocate memory differently/have compression/have different caching algos.

Quick, someone help me quick, SUPER noob question but I currently have 2X6 pins plugged into my HD6950, and I just got my Nitro+ RX 470 which has an 8pin, I DO have a 2 pin hanging with the other two 6 pins, but my question is does it matter WHICH 6-pin I use in conjunction with the 2 pin?

Power supply is a Sliverstone ST50F-ES 500W if that helps.

I'm thinking the one on the left and the 2 pin??

I'm installing my RX 470 and plan on reviewing it, so this is relevant... ish?

Yeah according to your PSU, there will be 2 power connectors, 1x6 pin and 1x6+2 pin.
So you can use the 6+2 pin power connector, usually theres a small notch like thing which joints the 6 pin and 2 pin together so you can check for that.
Or either one will be good along with the 2 pin

Thanks, I looked over the cables again and realized the (right side) extra 6 pin was just stemming from the one marked PCI anyhow so I used the left one and the two pin. Took me a minute to figure out which way they were situated and rotated haha but it's in! And it looks glorious. Now for some benchmarks biggrin.gif and to figure out why my AMD stuff won't update. And where to get wattman. And eventually overclocks!

Nice! Yeah I'm sorta bummed I didn't wait a week (The 480 nitro came back into stock) but overall I'm extremely pleased with it's performance. I won't overclock it quite yet, trying to keep the warranty in tact for at least 2 or 3 months. But so far with max settings in Fallout 4 I get a real nice 50FPS average in 1080. Dips a little here and there but overall it's running well. I needed to OC my CPU a bit to keep up, well, didn't need to, but I was deff hitting a cpu bottleneck from time to time.

Great stuff from them! I also had a nitro and I had it returned a bit too noisy. Got the PowerColor Red Devil and its a amazing card, super happy with it.

I was using the RX 470 Strix earlier this week. Didn't matter what I did with the wattman settings, it would throttle down to 300 mhz for about 5 seconds then go back to whatever clocks I had set.

Set power-target to max
Increased temp target well above its factory 60c lol (what a joke)
Messed with the clocks up and down with more or less vcore.
Used GPU Tweak and dorked around with its settings.
Tried all of the recent Crimson drivers
Did a fresh W10 install and repeated all of the above plus more.

After google searching this, there's been a few instances of this particular video card doing the exact thing I was experiencing.

Most of what is in my sig rig below was part of that build that had the RX 470 Strix. The only difference instead of the current 1440p Swift and RX 470 I was using a 1080p 144 hz free-sync MG248Q and of course the RX 470 Strix.

Anyone else with the same GPU have any input?

I understand the feeling, but I wouldn't worry. My 470 more or less matches a reference 480 at stock. The 8gb models do have the faster ram, however.

I'm surprised fallout 4 is giving you less than 60 - i just tweak a few settings and it's well over 60 FPS. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3skr7o/ultimate_fallout_4_pc_tweak_guide/ Basically with the 470 I only need godrays set to low.

Hmm. I'm not sure what's causing my framerate drops then. I have a ton of mods installed, they may have part to do with it. Most of them are supposed to make things run BETTER. I also have a full-tweaker "mod" that replaces the launcher that allows me to mess with a bunch of the graphics settings and stuff. Most of them are on full except a few, I have godrays totally off I think. I will admit I just turned NPC shadows off and turned my shadow draw distance down to 5,000 from 15,000. I'll have to see if that helps.
