Pls stop complaining this is not Prey. No it is not similar to the OG Prey, yes it's not a reboot or continuation of any sort. Get over it pls, Prey 2 has been canceled for over a year.
Now this new Prey. Went to spend an hour last night ended up spending 4h xD. Hooked. I'm completely hooked. It's been a fair amount of years that i played a game that made me jump off my seat and my arms hair to stand up.
The sometimes just dark and gloomy scenery helps to hide that there wasn't much work on details for the background of the station, there aren't that many models of "stuff" so one will find a lot of repeats. Mostly simple surfaces, but that actually goes hand to hand with that fact that we in a space station (smooth clean surfaces are easier to maintain) that grew in size and complexity since the 60's of the XX century until the 20's on the XXI century. Plus there is a noticeable effort to give the player the impression that the company now managing the station is Uber rich and even shipped gold panels for the walls of the station and other luxury stuff one wouldn't expect to find in a space station.
Graphically the game seems polished, if one takes into account it is using Cry engine 3 that has been around for some time, enough to convince a person that there is texture on some of the walls and floor and it helps when looking around the environment for objects/enemy the way they treated light and shadow and the projection of those shadows and the shiny surfaces. Can't say it's flawless but it's good enough to get lost in it's imagery and give a sense of immersion. The previously mentioned gloomy and dark setting of the station truly helps to bring u into the game, as does the sound effects and the continuous soundtrack that boosts volume and rithym intensity according if u in danger area, in a fight with aliens or exploring seemingly empty rooms.
The skill trees seem big, bigger then in Deus-Ex's, hope there will be enough upgrade items to make something interesting with possibilities they offer with those. Haven't opened alien skill trees, only the 3 human ones, yet. But by the size and quantity of needed upgrades is, imo, pretty big and wide. There will be new ways to evolve ones character and that is a plus for replayability in the future.
Personally haven't found any bugs, yet, not to say others with different hardware won't find them. Solid 60fps with Vsync, 1920x1080p and very high graph settings ingame.
Let go of the premise that this isn't anything, although imo the essential spirit is there... u are being pried on by strange aliens, like the OG Prey from '06 and give it a try. If u loved system/bioshock, Deus-Ex and Half-life series and getting scared every 10min or so this is, again imo, a must have title. After the disappointment of ME:A this will definitely figure as one of the top5 games of the year, for me at least.
