[QNIX UHD3216R] 4k Matte AHVA with AMD Free-Sync - Page 12

Questions for any owners of the UHD3216R - can the monitor scale down to 1440p or 1080p well on either the HDMI or DP inputs? I'm thinking about picking this up but also need a monitor for work, which requires me connecting my laptop to it via HDMI. Also, I take it that 1440p on the DP would still allow freesync, and that 1080p works at 60hz?

Thanks in advance!

From what I've seen in Total War Warhammer and Fallout 4 it scales great at 1080p. Haven't tried 1440p yet. Of course it's not as sharp but still looks good.

And yes free sync would work for those resolutions as far as i know.

Sorry for this question, but:

Is this the best monitor I can currently buy if I want a 32" UHD at a low price?

I want to use it for web browsing, office work, movies/videos and photo editing. No gaming. I will run it with a Thinkpad X1 Yoga (Intel HD 520), which I believe can do UHD@60Hz, but no Freesync.

What is the downside, compared to monitors twice as expensive? Should I consider spending more?

Thank you smile.gif

Pretty much.

Hmmm, tempted to jump at this at the current price. Whats the stand like, and how bad is the AG? BLB?

I have a Crossover 434k which I think is great (although a bit too big for my desk unfortunately) and a Dell 3415W, which I might retire as I'm a bit over the BLB and half arsed support for 21:9. Additionally, the AG looks pretty meh compared to my other Crossovers.

Its either this or wait for the new Crossover with Freesync, but that appears to have one horrid looking stand..

Former owner here. I owned this Qnix for a couple of weeks and liked the screen except for a few serious problems.

As people have previously pointed out, the backlight diffuser causes serious problems on the edges of the screen. All the edges disappear by a few mm unless I sat back a few feet.

The non VESA mounting on the back was the biggest issue for me. This monitor does not follow the VESA standards and is falsely advertising as such. That's fraud in my book. The holes are not the m4 size that all VESA 100x100 mounts use. If you buy this monitor and want to mount it, good luck cause you are going to have to make modifications to both the screen and your stand.

At any rate, I returned this monitor and got the Crossover one instead. I am not going to list any specific model or plug any links in case anyone tries to say I am promoting it. But, I am very very happy with my new monitor that I mounted to a VESA stand and that does not have any diffuser problems on the edges.

With the problems I ran into and others listed by many people, I cannot recommend anyone purchase this monitor. There are others out there for the same price that are better and aren't lying about the VESA specs.

Thanks for the write up. Hopefully the new version of the Crossover will come out soon (with Freesync).
