FreeBSD murmur server trouble

Thread Starter
Hello everyone, asking a Unix / networking advise.

I have a weird situation.

I am running FreeBSD 10.3-p6 FreeBSD, with iocage(on zfs) managing 10.3-RELEASE jail in which I am running a murmur server.

I did not change much in the murmur.ini(increased the bandwidth, and disabled bonjure) followed the guide of a person installing it in FreeNAS jail just in case, and the murmur starts at boot time perfectly fine.

On my router I am forwarding ports on 64738 on my static IP adress.
I've registered with No-Ip and set up dynamic DNS on my router.

When I log in by myself into the server, all is well. However when me and a friend log in, I get intermediately kicked and he doesn't O_O.

murmur.log says
<68:usernamehere(-1)> Authenticated
<68:usernamehere(-1)> Timeout
<68:usernamehere(-1)> Connection closed:

even though I am still speaking. I've tested this on windows 8.1 and OpenBSD 5.9(yes i run one on a laptop lol, mumble client actually just works of the bat on that, imagine my surprise haha).

normal var/logs/messages in jail are silent. Top shows murmurd running just fine.

P.S. I had the resynch error before, so I rebuilt murmur from source, and the issue seemed to go away, only to be replaced by this. I also rebuild it without bonjure and basically stripped it from all but necessities.

So has anyone experienced this? Can this be a router issue?
https://sourceforge.net/p/mumble/discussion/492607/thread/f6ee1abc/?limit=25#e7e4

Only thing I found that was relevant.

it's still not clear whether you're trying to connect via internal or external IP...

I was always using the external domain name for all tests in all cases.
I will be testing today with pure LAN, and digging info on my router. It just might be inaccurate WAN NAT redirection.

More reasons why I should just bite the bullet and resurrect my PF box X.X

UPDATE:
So it seems it might have been WAN NAT Redirection. Segregation of the LAN use LAN, WAN use WAN seem to fix it, and I also swapped the jail's hostname so there would be no DNS clashes.

Seems working so far, however I would love LOVE to understand why was it actually doing that, because I hate "undefined behavior" X.X

Hard to tell how the upstream router would handle the packets once they leave your network. I'd capture the problem traffic with tcpdump on the murmur host and at the same time with Wireshark on the Windows host and compare the two, at some point there will be a packet sent from the Windows host that will not be received by the murmur host and the header data of that missing packet should have all the relevant info. I'm curious now too so hope you do it smile.gif
