I'd recommend everybody to at least play through Witcher 2 before Witcher 3. I'm half way through my second play through right now, 170 hours in.

On Borderlands: I still like Borderlands 1 way better than 2. Yes Borderlands 2 wasn't bad per se, the addition of the minimap was much needed, but it didn't have that special something about it, the fighting system was way more hectic than in BL1 (fights felt way more annoying than in BL1).
What I liked more in BL1 over BL2: The true "wasteland" feeling that you get in BL1. It didn't feel stale or boring though. I liked the loot system in BL1 better too. I prefer the original classes over those in BL2. I also prefer the humor in BL1 over that in BL2, it was more..sarcastic, ironic, while the humor in BL2 was mostly just childish.
I played through BL2 1 or 2 times, while I played like ~6 times or something through BL1 and it's DLCs.

A mix between both good elements of the games would be nice, like the minimap from BL2, the better graphics from BL2, the skin system from BL2 and maybe the interface from BL2 together with nice wasteland feeling/looking maps, with a similar lootsystem to BL1 and a humor that is more in line with BL1.

Weapons felt better in BL1 too, and I had more fun with the active abilitys of the characters like the punching and phasewalk etc.

Hehe we have different tastes, or maybe it was because I played BL2 before BL1, both were good but I spent way more time in BL2, even trying to play like those speedrunners. I enjoyed the more colorful/cartoonish environment in BL2, I don't like the whole wasteland environment in BL1 and fallout 3/4 it depresses me tongue.gif
I tried to play Witcher 2 but I also couldn't get paste a few hours, you're right you need to be invested in the story/characters for the Witcher series.

I had to google it to be sure, but based on hours I spent way more time playing the SC2 LOTV campaign than W3 in 2015, even though the story was pretty bad the gameplay was mildly interesting, being a Starcraft fan I had to play it biggrin.gif

Haha, yes maybe it's different if you've played BL2 before BL1, it's was BL1 -> BL2 for me smile.gif. It like the desert/wasteland type maps, especially in BL1 with the music, it's very...relaxing? Calm.

I started with Witcher 2 with no prior knowledge on the Witcher series and was very confused like the first 3/4 of the game because Witcher 2 is way more about politics then Witcher 3, but because of that I just became invested even more. Witcher 2 still looks very very nice graphics wise, gameplay/fighting is way better in Witcher 3 though, gotta say. The double damage you get when hit in the back in Witcher 2 is pretty annoying redface.gif.

i guess you don't realize pirated games can't connect to servers, unless a pirate sets up their own . . . so yeah, no multi player; so those that paid ALWAYS has that advantage.

It's rather about Denuvo/DRM servers going down.No activation=No game
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Pirates discovered activation backup long before first cracks started to show up.

Originals can also benefit from methods developed in pirate communities.

Denuvo Backup(simply copying certain files) allows to play normally even when the game requests reactivation.
LumaEmu(steam DRM emulation) allows to pretty much make the activation permanent and play without steam(not only on Denuvo titles).
You can also tinker with saves as you can change savegame location.
And at last cracks allow offline gameplay, ensure that you can run the game anytime you want and change hardware freely(as hardware change=reactivation).

There's also SteamFix which allows pirates to play multiplayer with no problems. Indeed they can only connect to their own servers/games but the comfort of usage is the same as original (same "join friend" as on original).

ah i see now, thanks for the clarification.

not familiar with steam fix but slightly w/tunngle; it still looks (albeit after a quick google) one is still regulated to playing only with others who pirated the game. personally if i am getting a game to play multi player - i am going to want the largest base i can play in but that's my POV.

well not really, it just shows that micro-transactions is the most effective means of profit, doesn't matter if its behind a paywall or its F2P.

Oh, no doubt. I don't think that was ever a debate. For every person spending $0 on a F2P, there's another crossing the $100 mark upwards, easily.

When you consider this happens in games like Farmville and Clash of Clans, ROI is stupidly high.

I've installed and uninstalled it twice now, each time not being able to progress the story for more than 3 hours, the gameplay and quests just feels completely bombastic, but I'll concede it is a good game compared to the other AAA titles out there. I guess this is what happens when you've played a few epic level games, such as Xenoblade Chronicles for example, which to me is superior in all categories except graphics. I also had much more fun playing Borderlands 2, nice rpg/fps goodness.

You're the minority. I've spent more time playing Gwent than I have playing Battlefield 4.

It always will be....most piracy happens in China where income and life in general just sucks or in countries with outrageous prices/crappy distribution. The people who are pirating in the US will likely not pay for the title anyways....which shows after months of tomb raider being out and now 600k downloads.

Shame they can't break down where it's being pirated from as well.....and this is just public data and not counting private servers.
