Reservoir Leaking from stop fitting?

Thread Starter
So to preface this, I am a noob at watercooling, this is literally my first custom loop. Now I have the Bitspower Single D5 Pump + 250 Upgrade kit. I install the tubing hook everything up and start filling up the loop slowly but cautiously watch for leaks before I turn on the pump first to make sure there is no leaks on the pump res combo since it had a lot of pieces to assemble. Now I am using the In and out on the bottem/side of the kit (like you see in this photo here), but I didnt have/dont have that spacer it seems to extend out the compression fitting and I tightened down the compression fitting as much as I could against the stop fitting but its still slightly leaking from it. Where can I get that spacer fitting I guess Id call it and or is that what I need? Or is there a stop fitting/end fitting that screws in flush with the side of the pump so I can just use the compression fitting without the extra spacer? Thanks and sorry I know this is probably a really stupid question!

Also THANKFULLY the leak was very small and it got on zero components besides the bottem of the case itself which was barely at all! thumb.gifredface.gif

EDIT: Pictures!

As you can see in the first few images the stop fitting being so close to the one and only "outlet" on the pump/res prevents the compression fitting from tightening all the way down and there is a slight leak from it. Once again I may be completely stupid and there's a simple way around this but for now I just got really frustrated putting the loop together and having to tear it apart 2-3 times trying to find where it was leaking from.

EDIT: Last image is of the other side of the pump/res.

you can get these.. is that what you are after?

Also with tightening, i found that I tightened all my fittings by hand until they felt good. Then leak tested. Had one leak, tightened it by hand till i couldn't tighten it any more, still leaking, tightened it a half turn with pliers and was all good. Besides this case, I never tighten with pliers (i've heard this generally leads to issues)

No no I have those! The problem is on the side of the pump/res the In and out are very close to each other and when I have the stop fitting in and I try and tighten the compression fitting the stop fitting interferes with the compression fitting tightening all the way, so it leaks. Sorry if what I said in the original post didnt make sense...

Can you post a pic of the leaking area? Might be easier to see what your referring to.

I think you need this:

But I think that is an old school top so maybe someone with more experience with it can verify.

The only problem I have with buying that is it looks to be the same width of the plug which would still interfere with it no?

I know this is a double post but I really need some help with this. Im afraid if I buy the extender its still going to be too thick and it wont tighten all the way down with then stop fitting right next to it like in my pictures. Searching around I found this EK G1/4 PLUG now does this tighten down flush inside the G1/4 hole? If so than this would work better than getting the extender but if it doesnt tighten flush then it would have the same issue.

OMG that is stupid close, wth was Bitspower thinking.

From the pics you may be right that the extender will still touch.

I want to say surely it won't but it will be side by side for sure.

I can't get over how close that in and out port is, maybe meant for only small 1/4" ID tubing fittings, I don't know but worse case scenario is grab a 90 degree fitting and an extender, use the 90 degree for the in you are wanting to stud close and then use extender to ensure fitting won'r interfere with fittings.

I can't help but say again, that's stupid close I feel for in and out on that bitspower top, I had an old BP D5 pump top and tehre was plenty of room for my 1/2" x 3/4" tubing fittings. That top looks like it wasn't meant for those size fittings.

I use extenders a lot myself, I think you would be fine with one extender fitting with 8mm or so length. I can't say for sure it will fit but in my head from playing with other setup it should.

PS: I'd snag a extender before that EK stop plug, you will run into same issue more than likely. It does look like it's diameter is a bit smaller than your current BP stop screw.

PS: You'll use the extender on your fitting side for the out port, not the stop plug. It should raise your fitting away plenty to get good seal.

Thank you for your reply! I do agree its stupidly close with the design... Also I know id be using the extender on the out port but I was thinking if the extender is as thick as the fitting then it would still interfere, or are the extenders not as thick/wide as a normal compression fitting?
