Because??

If the performance, efficiency and cost are where they should be then I don't really care who they use. The fact of the matter is that 95% of Mac users don't even know what the difference between the two GPU makers would be to begin with.

Mac products are superior marketing and design, incarnate.

There's no doubt in my mind that the only reason that Apple went with AMD was because they were able to cut them a better bulk deal then NVidia was willing to do. But the thing is, is that AMD is getting paid and in the Apple community there are few people who will even realize that anything happened.

To be honest, most people will be using a macbook without dGPU, since majority of tasks (at least for the market they are catering for) will be more than happy with the integrated Iris Pro 580 (similar to GTX 950 I presume?). I am in the market for one and will definitely be buying the one without the dGPU.

As for gaming, I don't know, I just don't like the form factor of these machines for gaming, gets loud/hot and starts throttling. People have had decent success with gaming on Intel HD 530/540 so I presume you could still game on just the integrated chip (just on lower detail if triple-A).

For professional use, I have seen many people manage fine with Intel HD 515/520 for 95% of tasks, sometimes it is just a bit slower- so I think the amount of professional workers who would actually need a dGPU given the much upgraded Iris Pro 580, if I had to guess, would be <0.1%.

I'm just glad the rMBP is looking to get a substantial update at all. It's so long in the tooth and it currently doesn't justify it's cost vs. current comparable Windows offerings. I couldn't wait for Apple to update the MBP so ultimately I got a XPS, but I'm glad to have additional options on the table soon!

Though at it's prime, I don't really consider a MBP overpriced, especially with the advent of the Surface, XPS and other comparable offerings.

Finally, LOL at the whole laptops attracting women thing. This is the funniest thing I've read here in a while. To add my two cents though, I don't think women give a care in the world unless it's one of those really bulky, blingy gaming laptops (e.g. Alienware)

btw, the vents on mine are only red when the laptop's on, and only get brighter as the fans speed up. I don't think I need to say anything else.

What about those Asus gaming laptops that weigh a ton?

Seriously, though, I still don't get why that came up. If anything it's pretty funny how this is a topic on overclock.net. It really does say a lot.
