[WCCFT]AMD Zen Engineering Sample Benchmarks Leak Out – Summit Ridge CPU Faster Than The Intel Core i5 4670K In AotS Benchmark - Page 2

I think everyone in this community should be rooting for AMD to do well. We need the competition before we go back to pentium Dual-core days.

Here are all the individual benchmarks:

Recently I have noticed that many people in the PC Gaming/Tech community seem to lack good long term thinking capabilities or empathy. Which saddens me as it affects our art form as well.

That is how that thinking exists. Without AMD doing well, we the consumers wont get good products. It is that simple. Not an if scenario, but a fact. And our wallets would be under assault even more viciously.

It is not the AMD or Intel engineer that will have any problems (those people wont have problems with well payed jobs) but PC Gaming, us the consumers, technology that will suffer. Such is life though.

At least the drama is fun.

Also OP try trimming down the title of the thread, maybe to "AMD Zen Engineering Sample Benchmarks Leaked - Faster Than The Intel Core i5 4670K in AotS"

this. i'll even go further and say its already happened. on the CPU side, its still quads for mainstream since 10 years and nvidia gpus are already exorbitantly priced. so stagnation and price gouging because they are only show in town :/

At this point, i want AMD to go under so there isnt even a pretension of competition and hopefully, antitrust will take its own course.

How many CPU cores can AotS use? If it can only use 4 then this is interesting. If it can use 8, then it's less interesting, but still interesting given the clock speed discrepancy. If it can use 16 then this is horrible if true.

I do not have hope in antitrust. It is possible to play even that if you are careful.

Considering how extremely hard making CPUs and even GPUs is, your want is not going to end well if it were to happen. No one else will come for a long time.

Being capable of using more than 4 threads does not mean it will scale linearly or at all with them.
Metro Last Light also scales with many threads and cores... does not mean it will matter for the game or benches.

although considering lower clocks, it's not bad.
Seeing people screaming to "ban WCCFT" in every thread is about the only thing that annoys me about WCCFT.

When you read their "leaks", you need to be ready for the possibility of it being from a bad source. You can't blame them for getting your hopes up. WFFCtech isn't a purely journalistic site. Everyone knows what they are. They bring the rumors, leaks, and otherwise unconfirmable information to one place and let you decide.. This is what they do. They release very early information from the kind of sources who give you very early information; they aren't always good, but WCCFT does tend to be very early on many important things.

I didn't think I'd ever find myself defending WCCFT, but holy crap. Take some responsibility. Manage your expectations. Taking things with a grain of salt is not only meant to be an insult to the source of information, despite that being how most people use the phrase. "Take it with a grain of salt" infers that you must remember to manage your expectations.

Yes, WCCFT is very loose with what they publish. If your world doesn't fall apart whenever you need to question the legitimacy of something, you can benefit from seeing a less-filtered stream of news. Journalistic integrity is nice and all, but you shouldn't judge a source based on it's reputation alone. And if you only want to hear from highly reputed sources about future releases, you might as well cover your eyes and ears until launch day.

Personally, I think WCCFT draws the perfect line between "too early" and "just early enough to maybe get some good information." Sometimes they get a home run, sometimes they strike out. The good doesn't outweigh the bad; we're all enthusiasts, here. We're here to bring information out, and judge it's legitimacy.

I never said it does, BUT it can give us an apples to apples comparison. If the game uses 4 threads and we see that the CPUs all have 4 threads then we can get a gauge for performance.

If it can use 16 threads and only one CPU has those threads it gives us a different comparison, because we don't know how much those extra 8 threads are being utilized.

My point is that the amount of threads the game can use is important to understanding what this graph (assuming it's true) is telling us.

I never believe anything that website says, positive or negative. but i hate when other people take it as truth and unnecessarily hype things, specially AMD. seeing that since last 3-4 years. and people still believe it.

I can manage my expectations, but most people can't. and that website does anything for traffic.
