WCCFT should be blacklisted from any news/rumor sources IMHO.

And yeah, I bitterly remember the Bulldozer hype so I'll believe AMD when I have three separate retail reviews to cross-examine. Not holding my breath.

would ashes catch that or still report 8 cores / 16 threads? we also don't know the clock speeds as well since ashes doesn't report current frequencies. which is another reason why we shouldn't take these results seriously. they're only test, engineering samples, not finished products.

Their desktop zen CPUs aren't going to come until at least H2 2017 according to the other thread, which is when the cannon-lake is coming, since kaby lake is scheduled to come soon when the APUs are supposed to come first (I expect it to appear on the next MacBook pros).
If Intel aren't going to change schedule, the zen 8/16 core CPUs are going to come out with the cannon-lake.

As unverified and uncorroborated as these benches are, it's nice to have them.

More samples the better. Toss out the obvious fakes and extreme outliers, then extrapolate any missing system or test info and chances are you'll have a good idea of the part's performance.

What are the clock speeds of the two samples?

I strongly suspect clock speed is the only difference.

We had an accurate picture of Bulldozer performance several months before it was launched...a picture that was painted with the help of leaked info and rumors.

well the order part number of the ES sampled leaked showed the 1D versions with a base of 2.8 and a boost of 3.2. but in ashes we don't exactly know what speeds they're running at and if its turbo is activated and if it is, is it being maintained.

and that's the point, we don't exactly know. we also don't know how many cores are activated. its all guess. we don't know much at all.

WCCF is comparing a 8C/16T Zen CPU to 4C Intel ones. That tells us almost nothing.

First is most likely close to stock maybe mild OC, second is definitely after OC, and third is probably a much higher overclock (focusing on CPU score and CPU overclock ignoring possible GPU overclocks and scores).

That's more like it, thanks! +rep

EDIT: Nevermind, misread that... I see the CPU framerate is WAY higher on the stock 5960X, which is a bad sign. It even has a similar clockspeed.

This is an ES benchmark posted by WCCF of course, so we have no idea what its really like... but this still isn't a good sign.

Looks like whatever WCCF found in the benchmark is close to a stock 5960X, which has similar clocks. That tells us a ton.

EDIT: Also, this should really be added to the OP or something. Otherwise it'll get buried in the thread :/

one thing i notice is that the "framerate / average framerate" are similar, but the cpu framerates appear faster with the 5960x.

Yeah I just noticed that, and ninja edited my post.

It doesn't bode will if this represents final Zen silicon, but I guess we'll have to see.
