PCper has it wrong, they never said it was a U.2.
I'll stick with my m.2 drive for now. Heck yea that thing is awesome! Same sata speeds but definitely don't need anything faster right now...

Intel said it would come in many form factors, the issue is U.2 and M.2 are x4 PCI-E 3.0, while the PCI-E slot can go full x16

Thats pretty cool actually. Imagine a super fast ultra capacity PCIe SSD looking like a EVGA Classified GPU wink.gif

Didn't they show a 512GB stick that fits into the ram slots?

The DIMM form factor stuff is coming a bit later. There's also a competing technology out there I was just reading about at Tom's and elsewhere. First gen will have Linux support only, but it's compatible with current DDR4 sticks and other than the software issue, won't require a motherboard / chipset update apparently...."HybriDIMM". http://www.simmtester.com/page/news/shownews.asp?num=18386

Basically just pairing NAND on the DIMM slot with the memory, but using predictive software to prefetch and load in and out of it as needed in a way that masks its slower speed but still provides a significant advantage to having the CPU have to mediate more storage to memory interactions....much like AMD is doing with that SSG card, now that I think about it. Seems like there's a lot of memory/storage convergence concepts all happening at the same time. Exciting time to be a geek.

I wish the board design engineers would have opted for at least some RGB LEDs and a black PCB on this development board. Who cares how fast it is if it doesn't say "GAMER EDITION" anywhere on the heatsink? DOA product.

Also consider this isn't a product. The looks of a product can/do matter. This isn't a product.

My 2 cents.

This.

So awesome though, can't wait thumb.gif
