Well I cant even 144 fps, so does the 144hz even matter?

You'll get much closer to it OCing the CPU than without it @ 1080P, better minimums as well. thumb.gif

If I were to think about upgrading my cpu, taking my MoBo into account, What would be a really good cpu to go with my GPU?

I'm going to look up some guides to overclock, but in case I still get pretty poor performance, I may think about upgrading and giving my old CPU to a friend.

Its using all the CPU cores, not one btw.

So, are some of the CPU cores sitting at 100%? If so, then it's most likely bottlenecking your performance (which isn't surprising).

Have a read through of some of the overclocking guides (it's quite easy to do, and a 2600K should get somewhere in the mid 4GHz region quite easily with the cooler you have).

getting the most out your gaming PC is all about synergy, having the best GPU with an old CPU from 2011 doesn't make sense let alone running it stock thats probably equivalent to a 2ghz skylake chip redface.gif

if you can't overclock it just upgrade your CPU im sure you can easily if you can buy a $1200 GPU biggrin.gif

you'd probably be better off with a gtx 1070

you seem like the type of dude who has no idea how to overclock, you also seem like the dude who can't really be bothered tongue.gif

in this case just grab a i7 6700k, any mobo would do to be honest also ram is cheap 3000mhz should be good and cheap, slap your old shiz on ebay

No it isn't really and even if it is it's only a few FPS.

Even if you are bottlenecking your still going to get more performance from the GC. Something else is going on.

I don't think that a game that runs on the PS4's anemic CPU @ 60fps (though at 1600x900, which shouldn't really matter CPU wise, if anything it switches the load to the CPU more than 1080 does) is going to be hard to play run the OP's 2600k @ stock.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KjeDaso-N_M -Digital foundry video to show how the PS4 runs this game in the 50-60 fps range (probably at some mix of low/medium/high settings).

You cannot compare how a game's running on PS4 vs his PC.

For one, the PS4 runs a different OS (Linux). For another, a PS4 doesn't have all the overhead that his PC does. For another, you do not get 1:1 scaling between them due to different code optimizations that are made to each platform.

Do fresh drivers and get that out of the way. Make sure to delete all the old ones completely off the Hdd. As for your cpu..... Yes that gpu will like you so much more with it Overclocked. I would at least shoot for 4ghz-4.4ghz if you have the cooling headroom and motherboard.

None of them are at 100%, but some are around 80%ish, some 50% ish, and 1 has no activity.

My mobo is lga1155, i don't think it can take that cpu.

And to those who are arguing this game is 'well optimized'.. yeah.. sure sounds like it. A 5-second Google revealed at least 4-5 threads of guys who are suffering through this game due to high CPU usage or poor optimization in general (which an OC would help with).
