[BGR] Nine years later, the fanmade ‘Pokemon Uranium’ is finally complete (Download) - Page 3

Kotaku also had an anti-'lawyer up' response to this.

Here's the deal: Nintendo has every right to protect their IP's. However, if there's no danger to any of their sales or profit, they should let these homebrew games go, call it a fan-project, and just simply not endorse it.

With that said, however, I think there's a distinct difference between the Metroid II fan remake and this Pokemon off-shoot title. The Metroid II remake could, though unlikely, potentially hinder sales of the Metroid II digital download on the virtual console. AM2R was a (very good, mind you) alternative to the dated Game Boy version on the eshop. Pokemon Uranium? It's a completely made-up title that isn't designed to compete with other games. Nintendo won't lose sales of Pokemon Sun and Moon because this off-shoot pc title (non-profit) released.

TL;DR: Nintendo probably ignores things that don't affect sales, and takes action against things that do. This one may be safe.

I think part of it, depending on the game and company is that the fan-mad content might be 'better' than theirs, or hurt sales.

But I totally understand protecting your IP.

This would be the best way to handle things IMO. But Lawyers generally don't do whats best most times... This might not end well... I hope they just ignore it but...

I'll never play it but downloaded any way. Kids will most likely want to try it though.

I saw the other source, just pointing out the popularity of it with Google Drive actually limiting downloads. Not sure what triggers that but I would guess it is a substantial amount of requests...

Have you installed the game? It's straight forward and uses keyboard controls (haven't tried my xbox controller on it yet).
