Tutorial: Power Target limit hardware mod (Shunt mod) for Titan X and many other Nvidia GPUs - Page 4

Are these the ones I am supposed to apply CLU on?
This is a GTX 1070 AMP Extreme by the way. Just making sure before I attempt to break my card. redface.gif

You can apply it to the R005 one, but IDK if it will do anything to the R002's because the resistance is already so low that it is at or already lower than what the CLU would do.

this cant be done on a titanXM right ?
Okay, I will try it out. You guys think putting hot glue around it to avoid CLU to touch other parts a good idea? or I can just use some clear nail polish? (I used nail polish when I delided my 4790k lol seems fine)

hey, according to techpowerup bios collection info, the power limit of amp extreme is stated to have 100% 250W and 120% 300W.
may i know how much power your card will draw when you are in gaming and benchmarking?
you can check that from gpuz and hwinfo, gpuz shows tdp % and hwinfo shows watts.

as i am going to flash amp extreme bios to my ftw card for higher power limit. if amp extreme bios really has 300w power limit than it should be enough for me to play with.
it will be great if you upload your bios here or send it to me directly as i am finding the micron vram version of amp extreme 1070 bios.

check this youtubte channel out, there is a video talking about your card

You normally cannot just flash a custom design card from one company to a bios for a custom designed card from a different company. Make absolute sure that both the AMP! Extreme and FTW have exactly the same PCB design otherwise it wont work and you may brick your card.

it works on everything from I believe the GTX 6xx series all the way up to the newest cards.

Hot glue seems to work fine, others have used it. I posted pictures of doing that in the main post of this thread that another member on here did. Nail polish should also work, but wont actually hold the CLU in place at all so hot glue may be better.

I took apart my Titan X just last week to put a waterblock on the card. I looked at the CLU and it had dried substantially from the initial application, so it seems to dry within 2 months. So far I have no change in power limit as the CLU has dried so the mod seems good for long term. The mod has also basically become impossible to kill the card within since as it started drying the CLU cannot run off the resistor anywhere. thumb.gif

Thats true too. Since on those cards you most likely want to raise the base clock speed anyway the power limit can be raised at the same time and it works more precise, is safer, and is even easier to remove thumb.gif Wish we had a bios tweaker able to work with Pascal already frown.gif

I have samsung memory on my AMP Extreme, so my bios won't probably work with micron.

Okay nice! Do you think dried up CLU would be hard to remove? Also, der8auer responded to me on youtube saying I could just short all three resistors.

Here you go: (This is running furmark) Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

While gaming in Witcher 3 1440p all maxed hairworks' 2x AA
HWiNFO reports 194 W and then 70-75% TDP
