[VG24/7] There’s a rumor going ’round saying the PlayStation Now service is headed to PC - Page 3

Not surprising in the slightest, and expected since it was revealed

From Sony's press release back in January of 2014:
Quote:
In addition to PlayStation platforms, most 2014 U.S. models of Sony's BRAVIA® TV*2 lineup will support PS Now. Eventually the service will expand beyond PlayStation platforms and Sony devices, allowing users to stream PlayStation games on numerous other Internet-connected devices.

Why not just get Forza on PC?

I never had a PS3 so I wouldn't know. Cell? Do you mean it's processor?

Yea, because of that thing and not the standard back then, it made it infamously hard to do a decent port for a long game.
The only games that ran decent were the ps3 exclusives where the devs spend the time working around the Cell cause that was the only way to make it work.

This matches with what i've heard from someone who works on it at Sony. Not really surprising TBH, "ps-now" originally started on PC before Gaikai got bought out by Sony.

Is this computing done on the server and streamed to the console, or computing done on the console?

Last I heard it was the first one. I remember seeing something about sony using a crap ton of old ps3's and making them fit on a ton of racks for this service. Although I could be wrong

The games run server-side and stream video back to the client. I'm not sure if Sony uses PS3 hardware as a user stated above, or if they're using emulation.
