1 computer, 2 networks w/ only one having internet

Hey folks, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction here.

I have a comp at the office I would like to use 2 different networks. One having internet access and the other being private to use with a security camera for storing video and such.

I have 2 network cards installed with a different router plugged into each one. How do I tell the computer to use network 1 for internet and allow network 2 to function passively to receive surveillance and occasionally tap into the cameras to configure settings.

Hope this makes sense. Any help is appreciated.

Could you use a single router and a single NIC, give your camera a static ip and use firewall rules to stop incoming and outgoing connections from between the Camera's IP and the WAN connection?

Or use access control or firewall or routing tables to control access to the port the camera is on.

Or setup VLANs and put the camera in its own virtual LAN and control access of that VLAN

Well I was hoping to have the camera on its own network for optimal bandwidth because there is a lot of traffic on network 1. Plus I'd have more freedom to place the Network 2 router for better signal to the camera.o

Make sure the 2 networks are using different IP ranges (called subnets in networking speak), and your computer will figure it out automatically.

Example: Internet router uses 192.168.0.X and the cameras use 192.168.1.X. There should be a setting in the routers config to change the IP ranges it hands out.

I had it set that way from the beginning but for some reason the computer was still having trouble finding the internet. I read else where that I need to remove the default gateway and subnet from the network 2 router and that will work. We'll see.

Removing the default gateway on Network 2 should fix that issue. You always need a subnet though. If you don't want the default gateway issue to crop up again, you can give the network 2 interface a fairly high metric so Windows would not prefer to use it.
