I have a few issues with this....

  1. Having several 3.65 licenses with the hope the FCC was going to expand upon the available spectrum around it, as they indicated, this worries me. Independent providers are already locked out of spectrum because someone 'owns' it, so the potential for more to get commercialized is heartbreaking.
  2. Performance of this spectrum is nothing special, and literally sits between 2.4 Ghz and 5.8 Ghz unlicensed. In other words; this will behave like current wireless in terms of coverage area.
  3. Wireless tap extensions have existed for cable providers for a couple decades now. Giving cable operators the ability to extend their physical plant via wireless, they simply have refused to deploy them due to the lack of competition. This is old technology, being pushed as new!

He isn't talking 5 Ghz, but '5G', the replacement to '4G' cellular services as the technology behind the RF.

There's that.

A couple of years ago Google DNS went down for something like 1.2 minutes, something near 50% of the World's web traffic instantly stopped.
