PWM fans RPM ramping up

Thread Starter
I have two EK F4-120 (2200RPM) fans on my heatsink which is connected and controlled via my Asus Maximus motherboard but very often the CPU temperature spikes up even during idle and then it ramps the fans RPM for a second or two and back down which is quite annoying, is there a way to fix this?

Yes, you can set up a less aggressive fan curve that will keep spikes to a minimum. With high rpm fans even small increases in PWM/voltage will cause more pronounced rpm changes, which causes the noticeable huffs. If you keep a fairly constant fan speed up to ~45C and then go smoothly up from there it should solve this for you.
