[TT] NVIDIA's next-gen GPUs will be made on 14nm by Samsung - Page 5

Node drops after this gen, won't matter as much as arch & new bus structures. Pretty soon, GPU processing will take a backseat to latencies in the bus.

11nm by 700mm chip @ 200 watts...

By that time (2020?), adding multiple gpus to a system will scale 100%. So your gpu power is scalable.

Maybe it's a good way to have consequent volume production for the NX chip.
TSMC did a great job with 28 and 16nm and I don't see NV goin to another manufactor regarding high performance chip for the moment.

That would make sense. The Samsung process would be very well-suited to that task.

I am rooting for AMD despite everything I say, but I also believe that they have a long way to proving themselves.
Sedate myself - Hmm, great idea. I do plan on having a beer later to end my work week.

Exactly how AMD undercut Nvidia, with the RX480 @ 1080p... they will do with Vega at 4K. But even more so... given further tech over Polaris.

CGN is getting an upgrade...   Vega's die size will scale better than Polaris.

ed: I am not talking about high end, or top performance. Though, AMD will compete with the Titan's market space with single cards with Vega x2 config.

btw... sli/xfire are on their way out. Once Windows matures, we will see multiple video cards, of different brands & types, in many of our computers. With no need to configure.

Honestly, TSMCs 16nm has shown that it's superior to Glofo's 14nm (20nm with finfet) on more than one occasion already so unless Samsung has seen modest improvements in their 14nm design, TSMC is probably the best choice. Financially, it might be another story entirely.

New user, but not new to the scene. My first video card was the TNT. Currently run a 980Ti SLI, previously had 3x 290X (LTC mining). All water cooled

Ziplocbox welcome to OCN. That said, Robenger was rather abrupt with ya with the "Please Sedate yourself", but his comment was spot on correct about yours post being off topic and was absoutely pure bait for derailing the thread as we have historically seen. Not that I have ever done it.  Most of us try to keep one foot on topic even though many of us *Cough stray at times. :D

In this case a picture is exactly what you attempted maybe by accident to share your opinion. Also meme's are generally frowned upon in News threads btw.

Again welcome to OCN. Have fun.

Smart move, why put all your eggs in one basket?

Its like everybody is certain that China is getting ready to blockade Taiwan and TSMC won't be able to ship any production...

There, I fixed your awareness.

Why is China going to block TSMC?

GloFlo's and TSMC's 14nm/16nm is just 20nm with FinFet (I thought we would see this 2-3 years ago). 10nm will be 16nm + FinFet if we let them keep marketing like that. mad.gif
