From this CPU:

Just noticed that my ID is 7n00b7, LOL!biggrin.gif

Seems the CPU is VRM or Thermal throtling...

Try go to BIOS and set CPU voltage to 1.375V, CPU Multiplier to 22x, CPU NB voltage to 1.2V and CPUNB Frequnecy to 2400 MHz. In Advanced go to CPU configuration and disable there "APM master". ANd try benchmark again smile.gif

In Cinebench R15 is 731 and 114 for single core with turbo off.
In Cinebench R11.5 I get 7.82 and 1.25 in single core with turbo off.

These Cinebench tests were done about 2 weeks ago, for new numbers I would have to retest.

Will do, and coincidentally I was just looking to play with the Advanced CPU options to see if any of those was responsible, everything there is enabled Cool and quiet, C1E, SVM, Core C6 State, HPC Mode and APM, and that could be an issue. I already had NB at 2400, I've been looking to push it further if possible.

I'm just a little afraid that the system will protect itself like last time, and don't allow me to turn it on for around an hour, not sure about the reason yet, but it only happens when I make changes in the bios, and for some odd reason fails to apply them only the first time, but after I restart it apply the settings correctly, and works perfectly after that.

EDIT:Before making any big change I wanted to try manualy selecting the amount of threads. Result, 6 threads give me the same result as 8, when looking at the CPU usage, and the threads dont max each core, In the end the total CPU usage gets only around 70% unlike other benchmarks like Cinebench.

HPC mode conflicts with the power saving settings. It is designed to keep the processor running at max speed. You really should choose between that setting and power saving settings. Leaving them all on won't cause a glitch but philosophically they aren't compatible.

I don't think raising your NB speed is worthwhile.

Since you're having issues the best thing to do is get a static clock that's stable. Turn off all power saving stuff. Leave HPC on. SVM can be left on. Turn off APM. Once you have your maximum comfortable static clock you can record your benchmark scores and decide if having turbo on (which uses APM) is worthwhile and whether or not you want to deal with the hassle of making power-saving settings stable.

Since Cinebench R15 score is right where it should be, from the hardware side there is nothing wrong with the system. A software issue of some sort.

For sure will e OK set lower voltage and lower CPU multiplier+disbale APM Master mode. And after we will see smile.gif

I know my PC is not in perfect conditions but this is some crazy s**t.

After trying to apply the settings requested, unsuccessfully, because the pc would shut down just after posting (I think the PSU is to blame here, there is nothing wrong with the settings), after a lot of struggle I decided to clear bios and apply my old settings again to see what was happening, but the same thing happened, so I was going to start it for the last time, when I decided to force shut with the power button, to check my UPS consumption reading while starting, and tried again, it started, giving me an Overclocking failed error, I entered the bios and without making any change I used discard and exit, It started into windows. Opened CPU-Z I was running at DDR1600 but with the timings I use for 2133, looking around It was a mix between my settings and the defaults, turbo off, apm on, HPC off, CnQ on, some LLC settings to regular and some to extreme???, it was still at 4.7Ghz, benched with CPU-Z and the results were even worst 4890 and 1250, I thought it was because the ram settings, but it had still the same 6 thread performance cap, no matter what I did. So I restarted.

After restart I noticed at post that it applied correctly the 2133 settings, and after starting windows checked everything else looked the same after the last start except for the memory, so decided to give the bench a try again:

lachen.gifkookoo.gif

I don't think any one can explain this, this is complete BS, and actually it gives me 7057 with 6 threads too!?? and tried with 4 threads and gives me 4832, why does it works correctly now?

Seriously I don't think that is even stable:

weirdsmiley.gif

EDIT: It was not stable at all but after editing the P-states to achieve 1.428 volts under full load at 4.7Ghz, everything is allright and seems that turbo is active, I've seen it hit 5GHz in light workloads, I even got 100 points more in Firestrike. Its my highest score yet, P8349:

Again, try some lower CPU multiplier setitngs, example 1.35V and 4200 MHz, it must hold for benchmark...(and APM master disabled)

I was attempting to do that, but the system refuses to pass post without turning off, and then restarting at some strange "default" settings because of "Overclocking Failed" message, and if attempted to save any settings, the same thing would happen again, unless I quit without saving from the bios, I will try again though.

I will blame my PSU for this mess, LOL!

V700 is good PSU...What version of BIOS do you have? Can you share your BIOS settings? (u can save screenshots via F12 and USB flash disk in FAT32 mode)

I bought the V700 many years ago because it was a very good PSU, I think it was a rebranded Seasonic, however I think its bad since day one, because the issue was very small and only happened when there was a blackout, I was unsure but didn't put too much attention to it since it worked perfectly for everything else until now, so its a possibility.

You can see the bios version here:
http://valid.x86.fr/7n00b7

2501 (04/08/2014), It was the last version I found on ASUS site and I installed it since I bought it.
I didn't knew you could take screens of the bios! Thanks!
To avoid further derrail of this thread I will post the bios screens in my build thread over the weekend:
