Update my 7850k to Crimson Edition 16.2x.xx. . . ? And, if so. . . .

I looked at the info on AMD's website for their latest full driver update (leaving aside the 16.3 beta), and it shows that the A10-7850K is compatible. I'm currently running 15.2x or15.3 (I think the latter, but not sure ATM).

Am I going to see a benefit if I update? Also, are there any known bugs/issues?

If the consensus is "yes, it's definitely a good idea to update", what's the best way to go about it? I've read that, for whatever reason, updating AMD drivers is notoriously problematic, unless you uninstall the old driver first. If this is the case--and I apologize if this is a stupid question--by uninstalling the old drivers first, am I going to even have a screen? Because, if I lose video/display, how am I to install the new driver?

AMD's update page has a couple links on how to uninstall drivers, and how to install new drivers. So, if those last questions are covered there, just tell me and I'll investigate.

Still, I'd like to hear opinions on whether it's worth the effort to update, given my hardware.

Many thanks in advance.

I personally wouldn't bother getting the newest driver if the one you are using now works fine. I quite frequently have issues with newest drivers in games and sometimes things like youtube/twitch.

However, if you want to see how the new driver performs, it's generally recommended to uninstall current drivers first. You can go to device manager in windows and uninstall the display driver there or use a program like Display Driver Uninstall (DDU) http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
You won't get a blank screen, there are base display drivers that will keep your screen running until the new driver is installed.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I don't do lots of gaming, though I just recently started messing around with Battle Thunder (I think that's what it's called?) I went straight in with default game settings (1920x1080, med or high detail, can't remember which), and was quite surprised to find the game completely playable at that resolution. No stuttering or tearing or anything, just very fluid gaming. I figured the R7 would be sufficient for this game, but kind of expected 1920x1080 to be too much.

Anyway, thanks again. I might give the new driver a shot, just to see. Worst case, I can revert to the one I'm running now.
