[Build Log] - Project Shattered Winter - still considering name

Hey everyone, this is my first ever buildlog. I have been building computers since I was about 7 y/o and love everything about it. I am thinking of calling this Shattered Winter but don't really know the name atm. This build is going to be Blue, Grey, and Black. I wanted to add a little bit of uniqueness and I always see Blue/White builds and slightly more rare Blue/Grey builds, so I am going with a somewhat unique blue and adding black into the mix to make it a tri-color scheme directly as opposed to just being a filler color. Next post will include pictures of the components that I currently have purchased and already here and once I get the graphics card of course pictures will be added. This will also be the first time that I am going to mod anything, although minor to start, I may kind of take off and do a bunch of small mods to the case. The biggest thing I am considering doing already is switching out the side panel acrylic which I detail below. I had read people complaining about the acrylic in this case and other cases from many manufacturers, saying that it scratches easily and wouldn't you know it, in transit the front IO connectors hit the acrylic and left some marks. I can't say they are super noticeable and may not be noticeable at all when it comes time for me to take closer up pictures with parts in the build, but we shall see. Thanks so much for checkin out my first ever buildlog as well as first modding experience.

I have been able to save around $300 on the components before adding tax to the retail prices from buying parts through Jet.com and Craigslist mostly. If I can get the GPU on Jet like I want to, I will update how much I have saved and what the cost of the build would be if I had gone strictly retail with tax compared to what I paid for the whole thing since I didn't pay tax on nearly all of it and was under retail price on nearly all of it.

Main Components:

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Purchased
CPU: Intel Core i7-6700K Purchased
Motherboard: Asus TUF Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1 Purchased
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws 4 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 2400 Purchased
Graphics Card: Asus ROG Strix GTX1080 A8G Purchased
EVGA GeForce GTX1080 FTW Gaming Decided Against
PSU: EVGA Supernova 750 P2 Purchased

Cooling:

Corsair H110i Extreme Performance (Same as the H110i GT - this is the sku refresh version) Purchased

Monitor:

Purchased

I actually bought this monitor before I had the money to put together the above build and used it with my laptop that I am selling to get the GTX 1080 above that has yet to be purchased. I love this monitor and would recommend it to anyone. I am going to be posting a review of it on my youtube review channel I am starting shortly and if anyone is interested in seeing that I will post it here (if allowed) once it is up assuming there is interest.

Mod Plans/Ideas:

PSU Cover/Basement of sorts: I do plan on buying some plexi and doing the good ole bend, paint awesome design on, and LED light plexi PSU cover/basement as I plan to make it full length with cutouts for cable routing through for the front IO connections and such.
Custom Sleeved PSU cables: I would be using Icemodz sleeving and doing it myself, this will be the first time I've ever gone with custom sleeving and first time doing it myself so this should be fun.
Remove 5.25" bays: I mean...of course I am.
Create plexi SSD mounting plate or Cover: this is only in idea stage because it depends on leftover $$$ and whether or not I like the look after mounting the one I have in the back // since I only have one SSD though, it may turn into a feature spot where I continue the shroud design in this section and cover the SSD mounting behind it.
Side Panel: As listed above either replace acrylic with plexi window, or replace full side panel with a clear plexi window which will require a bit more work but I love the look of.
Front Panel: Although not much of a mod I may grab the high airflow intake kit here if I see problems with airflow for my H110i or go full mod (depending on cash once again) and see what other options I can come up with for something custom.

Any other mods would be later in the build and documented then, these are just the ones that I have already thought of in my head. Thanks again and hope you enjoy.

Hey everyone quick update, I am just finishing smoothing out some things because I am also going to be making a video buildlog for my tech youtube channel I am starting with this buildlog as well as some monitor reviews (won't give link or name because I don't want to get in trouble here) but I will have an update coming hopefully this weekend assuming all goes to plan. Will of course have pictures of each step as well for this buildlog that the video watchers won't see.

Also, they finally have my gtx1080 I want in stock, but I have yet to sell my laptop that I need the money from to buy it; hopefully this guy I am talking to now wants it tomorrow or friday so that I don't miss out and have to wait a month again frown.gif

Thanks to those who have subbed, cool to know people are interested in what I am doing.
