So you took the upgrade on the final days of the offer, reassured by the GWX nagware that you had 31 days to roll back to Windows 7 / 8.1? Well, surprise!

The sad part is that Microsoft is getting predictable in their devious tricks:

I do NOT understand what the rush is! The time to roll back should be equal to the end of life date for the operating system it was upgraded from. the universe is

not
going
to
implode

if everyone isn't running Windows 10.

Law enforcement would then have to leave their offices and do real detective work.

A poor show on Microsofts part, especially using the lame excuse that it made this move to ''Conserve consumer Harddrive space'''. Wish they would just come out with it and say ''We want you on our latest OS, it is easier for us and we can cultivate as much data as we can from you''

At least then I can give credit for honesty lol.

Well it's no wonder! They keep changing the TOS every other day. What insidiousness.

As long as they don't change the behavior of the underlying licenses, this isn't really a big deal. You can still clean install the old OS whenever you like. Upgrades and rollbacks are asking for trouble anyway. Always clean install or restore an image to avoid issues.

Now, if they do something like disable the windows 7/8.1 licenses that have been used in 10 upgrades, that's gong to be a real problem.

As usual with all of your Windows posts, much ado about nothing. By rights there shouldn't even be a free upgrade anymore, and if you go to the trouble of upgrading now, 10 days should be more than enough to decide if you want to keep it or not.

not surprised at MS tactics

promise the world and only to take it back after you signed the deed

At the same time, why change it in the first place? Why do these silly little things that have minimal impact either way, but make good click-bait headlines and will inevitably fuel the anti-MS rhetoric.

It's just like what I've said about the telemetry thing all along; if they just provided an option to turn it off completely, the small minority who really cares about privacy would be happy, and 99% of users would still click next, next, next and leave it on. It wouldn't have made any sort of significant dent in the amount of data MS would have been able to gather. Instead, the morons force telemetry on everyone, and that small - but very vocal - minority start to kick up a stink. Next minute there are headlines everywhere about Windows 10 telemetry, and it snowballs. Users who wouldn't have batted an eyelid are now concerned about the telemetry. All of this could have been avoided.

I swear MS doesn't have two brain cells to rub together when it comes to PR.

I have to say, I don't disagree with anything you said. It just doesn't seem like moves like this are really going to affect the bottom line much at all but the PR hit is always massive. Just not worth it in my eyes. Let the whiners have their way because the casual buyers probably don't really care anyway...
