It would lose to a custom one right out of the box
You're completely missing the point. AMD cards do not lack raw performance. If used properly, the Fury X wipes the floor with the 1070, as obviously shown in that image I posted. The issue is that their cards are not fed properly to display their performance. They are underutilized in pretty much all DX11 cases and nVidia-biased cases. All AMD has to do is fix the front end, and they can have something that reaches or beats a 1080 without needing to completely overhaul the architecture. It's not as if the Fury X is such a power hog either and it's 28nm.

after RX480 targeted the mid-range PC gamers and 470/460 targeted low-range Gamers , Vega will target homeless people under bridges.biggrin.gif

Their lack of products while NVIDIA launches card after card and cleans our wallets is something we were distracted long enough. Please to explain what else is there from AMD to 'distract us' than marketing. Please don't say async shaders tongue.gif!

If Vega is Fury on steroids, 8GB HBM and 1500 +clock, than it means its PRO.

To me, a card more expensive is not worth enough value.

Performance/price is not the way I choose GPUs anymore.

Back in 2014 when I bought my first 1440p display, R9 290 had the best performance/price @1440p according to all sources I've read. The problem is, it could not handle this resolution at all. 60 fps for $500 seems like a bad deal when you can have 45 fps for $250. But think again. Do you really want to play at 45 fps or is it $250 worth of a card you hate for being too slow.

But my waiting ends around the start of September. Thats when I build my desktop.
If no announcements are imminent then, AMD can forget about my business.

There is a limit on how long people are willing to wait. If AMD cant get their ass in gear, they deserve to go bankrupt.

They had all the time in the world to create the RX 490. While Nvidia was launching a ton of Maxwell cards, AMD did almost nothing.
There is no excuse

If they could choose to release either Polaris OR Vega and went with Vega, they'd probably be packing things up as of now.
In 2014, the 290 was 500, but I'm not aware of any card that was 250 that did 1440p @ 45fps. AMD had 280x ~ to that and Nvidia had 770.

And you think you're making sense? You're now comparing a highly overclocked GTX 980Ti @ 1350MHz, which is near the maximum average overclock of around 1400MHz 980Tis have on HWBot, against a stock Fury X, one that will gain around 15% extra performance when overclocking to 1135MHz.

lol 1.35GHz is "highly overclocked" ? 1.4GHz is max ? lachen.gif
you're laughing stock for anyone who has even owned a custom 980ti with statements like this.
my 980ti 6G was 1380Mhz out of the box and oc'd to 1510MHz on stock voltage. It was just a common result tbh.

Did you even read the link? 1400MHz is the maximum average overclock on air for over 25,000 different cards, you're the laughing stock comparing overclocked against stock and ignoring the fact that even when the Fury X overclocks like crap it can still gain an extra 10-15% performance.

Next time try harder.

lol this includes reference versions and stock clock cards too
if you spent 10 minutes around 980ti owner's thread maybe you wouldn't make a fool out of yourself.

1.4GHz is not close to the minimum overclock for a custom 980Ti if you took 100 samples.

1400MHz is "max for 980Ti" lachen.gif good grief
