He is talking about silicon only ( 470 i guess ? because 4096c is 2x of 470), not whole card's tdp because hbm doesn't consume as much as gddr5@8ghz (that's what he is comparing it to). plus that high tdp is not for every game at playable 45-60fps. it's usually 5-10w lower, even more when you undervolt since stock voltages are kinda high.

anyway i think it will be same situation as furyx, 260-70w tdp but this time no bottlenecks.

seems like it's the case.

still, I can't imagine Vega not being extremely power hungry when reference RX480 is above GTX 1070 FE and close to GTX 1080 FE when it comes to power draw.

just look at 290x and furyx, furyx packed another 45% shaders without additional tdp ( even take 280x for that matter). although performance didn't scale because bottleneck.

290x had low clocked 512bit bus, 480 has high clocked 256bit bus. i don't know what the differences are in power consumption for both but it should be in similar range. (vram)

vega will use more power, but not 2 times as much. most likely in 275w and below range (total card). we will see next year tongue.gif.

Yeah I forgot the 390X vs Fury X case. That 6GHz 512-bit bus DDR5 is probably contributing a lot more to the power draw than 8GHz 256-bit DDR5 on RX480 than you think though.

looooooooool

The right AIB GTX 1070 will run much more quiet than Fury X while beating it by a good deal in performance.
What on earth have you been smoking? tongue.gif

Why would you even bother putting Doom in there without it being a bench using Vulkan API? Who`s smoking what?...

Also your reading comprehension isnt too flash it seems, the guy owns a 1070, seems to be having issues with it (otherwise there would be no need to sell it), pretty sure he doesn`t need you to post charts and superflous crap because he hurt your little green feelings...

You mean the latency only a small percentage have?
The upcoming driver that will fix it for the remaining affected people?

Sure. Get that inferior Fury X by all means. After all. Its an overclockers dream biggrin.gif

!070 all the way if you want inferior graphics. DPC Latency is fixable, though.biggrin.gif
