[CB] AMD Radeon Polaris architecture performance - Page 17

"just enough" is probably 30~60fps, if the framerate is within that bracket, and is not a stutter-fest then yes its "acceptable", though that doesn't mean its gonna be pretty.

It seems that you are looking for 60FPS minimum, which means that you are aiming for 90fps average or more. Honestly, RX 480 comes close to this in a lot of popular games. The ones that are not doable because of terrible coding or optimization you can just drop settings a notch, have pretty much zero display difference, and have a good experience. Then you have games like ARK, NMS, and a few others that just run terribly no matter how many zeroes are on the end of your rig's pricetag. And they look bad no matter what settings you choose to boot.

Dude i'm playing arkham city on lowest settings 1024x720 25-35fps (on this 512mb gt210) nowadays. even though i said myself no gaming till i complete my studies, i couldn't stop. and honestly i'm playing just fine and after first 20 minutes of gaming, i don't even care how it looks biggrin.gif. i don't even remember how it looked on 1080p ultra when i first played it on my gtx670 2-3 years ago.

and i'm a guy who has played most games on 120hz high-ultra in last 5 years. so yeah anything is enough if you actually need it. otherwise even 10x titanxp like single gpu isn't enough.

The point is that RX 470 and RX 480 are fine for people with 2560x1440 screens if they are not "I WONT PLAY WITHOUT SETTING EVERYTHING TO MAXIMUMMMMMMMM!!!!" whiners.

I wonder how many people with this mentality were even in the PC scene back when games came out that were not even playable above medium/high settings for YEARS after release.

People seem to grossly underestimate the capabilities of a RX 480 stock, which is MORE than enough for ULTRA gaming at 1440p on 60Hz monitors, even when using MSAA X4 in 90% of titles, if I needed a GPU and I had a 60Hz Display I'd definitely not buy anything other than a 4GB RX 480.

No no no no no. Y'all are wrong. If a $200 mid range card can't do 120-144 Hz on 2K resolution, it is a total failure man. Polaris is all lie.

But if $1000 card dips to 55 fps, it is called "GRAPHICS" biggrin.gif

I'm not sure if sarcasm because Polaris RX 480 can in fact to 144Hz ULTRA on 2K without issues in 90% of games, while it might need to have FXAA/SMAA in others while there are few exceptions like The Witcher 3 that still run @ around 90 FPS in 1080P with the stock RX 480 and MSAA, games like these are numbered as there are few games as intensive as The Witcher 3.

EDIT: Lol.

I think they were referring to the fact that people are expecting a constant 120+ FPS out of a $200 card yet they excuse drops to the mid 50's on a $1000+ card.
