Help with Editing Application Menus

Hey everyone, I need help with something. How would I go about changing the description that an icon displays when you hover over it with the mouse? You can see what I mean in the picture below:

Also, how can I change what is displayed in the box that appears when you right-click? Seen here:

I've been using Resource Hacker lately to change things such as a file's icon, but I was wondering if the same software could be used for this as well, or do I need something else?

Changing the tooltip will be the easiest.  In most cases, you can find the string in the EXE file using a Hex editor.  As long as the string you with to replace the text with is the same length or shorter than the original text, just type over the original characters in the Hex editor, terminate the new string with a NULL (hex 00), and save.  As long as the EXE's file length hasn't changed during editing, it should work fine.  Sometimes strings are in Unicode—just keep that in mind when trying to find the text and when editing it.

Unfortunately, I don't know that much about changing the menus, although I'm leaning towards it being an unlikely proposition.  You'd probably have better luck writing a helper program to alter the menus after the program in question has started.  Still not sure how you would connect new/altered menu actions though.  If you inject a DLL and get it running as a thread inside the process in question, you could do just about anything—but again, this is at runtime, not by editing the EXE file.

Unfortunately, nothing I've tried seems to be working. :/

I can even delete several resources in this particular .exe file that I'm trying to edit, compile and save it, and yet the modified program works fine and is completely unchanged.
