This year has been difficult for smartphones, which is a bit of a paradox when you consider just how much better things have gotten compared to last year. With Snapdragon 820, 650, 652, and 625 we've finally moved past the shadow of the Snapdragon 810, 808, and 617/615. While there were Android devices that shipped with the Exynos 7420, they were often paired with a modem that was not necessarily the most power efficient. Despite all of this, there seems to be a general disappointment with smartphones. People are increasingly finding it hard to justify phones like the HTC 10 or Galaxy S7 with competition from OnePlus, Xiaomi, and even Apple with their iPhone SE.

Thinking of selling my S7 and getting a Note 7 but it's too expensive at the moment, it's around $900-1K on eBay.

The camera quality is kind of a disappointment given all of the hype at the launch of the Galaxy S7 given the dual pixel sensor and larger 1.4 micron pixels when the camera quality itself is not really an improvement over the Galaxy Note5 and is beaten out by the HTC 10
Lol? HTC 10 camera better then S7? What are they smoking?

Nice phone. Will be debating between this, the upcoming nexus and possibly the iphone 7 in September.

Note 5 was my first android after years on the iphone. I like the experience, but I will never ever purchase a carrier version of any android phone. Having to wait for the carrier to push the update for whatever the next android version is agonizing. The note 5 on att got marshmallow just a month ago for christ sake.

I have been a dedicated Samsung Galaxy Note user since the Note 2, but I am seriously kicking myself for picking up the Note 5 a year ago. The lack of an SD card and only 64 GB of onboard storage is absolutely killing me. That and the fact that we were promised a 128 GB phone that never arrived really kind of irked me. But, as soon as I saw the Note 7 with its larger battery, USB-C, and re-instated SD-card slot I was sold...

But then I saw that the camera on my Note 5 is significantly better than on the new Note 7 and I am thinking to myself, "why?" Oh well, I am still stuck with my Note 5 for another 10 months anyways so looks like I will be waiting to see what the Note 8 has to offer.

MP count went down from 16 on the note 5 to 12 on the note 7. So maybe people just assume it's worse? The review's I've seen all say it's a better sensor.

I feel you guys, I'm on the att note 4, still dont have MM but my camera is supposedly inferior to the note 7's somehow despite the 16MP vs 12MP on the note 7 plus the lack of root has made me bored. I'm stuck on mine for another year and I've considered going back to my s3

Megapixel isn't everything. Megapixel is just a picture size basically, larger picture doesn't mean it's a better picture.

I have the International version (Exynos). The battery life is better on the Exynos version than the Snapdragon version if you look at the benchmarks online.

The sensor size is the same but pixels are bigger on Note 7. In reality on perfect light 16 MP will be better but if you take 100 different photos a sensor that gets more light in will get sharper images and more light in. Also aperture is harder on Note 7 + one of the fastest dual pixel focus.

Looks like it has that same stupid glass backing as the S7/Edge. Mine flew out of my pocket - probably because of the slick, fragile glass backing - about one foot off the ground onto my wooden patio and it shattered. It was incredibly infuriating, especially since my case came in the day after =/.

Luckily I got mine through work and dont really care (have insurance). But beware, I wouldn't even chance it naked temporarily.

(TL; DR: Gorilla Glass 4 sucks just as much as regular glass and they decided to wrap the device in it)

Right, I should have added that the sensor seems to be better on the 7.

I was able to play with this phone in person. Rounded edges and curved screen. The construction is very solid, feels like holding a metal bar lol. Materials are above and beyond the typical note construction. Coming from a note 4, this is a day 1 upgrade for sure.

God, I dropped my old lg g2 and note 4 without a case like 350+ times each in every angle imaginable (as well as a toilet accident). Screen has yet to break and edges have yet to Crack! Oddly enough the only damage on my note 4 screen is from putting it in my pocket next to keys. Yet my chick's iPhone inexplicably shattered from a 1 foot drop (day 1 sadly) as well. I wouldn't even dare use these newer phones without a case anymore!

I get mone this friday. I havent even seen it in person but my note 4 edge is sluggish and battery life is just terrible. I think that this is going tonbe a decent upgrade for my. I cant wait to get my finger print all over it.

Note 4 was the last "True" Note. It was a half generation upgrade. Note 7 is too similar too S7. They should drop the current name and call it Galaxy S7 Note.

Has touchwiz evolved in any positive ways? That's the only thing that turns me off about the Samsung devices. You can't get any worse than touchwiz. Phones with beautiful hardware like the S7 deserve better software

Been through an S, S3, S4, S5

For me, the nexus line is the only option now when I'm shopping for a phone (tablets too)
