I don't know, this is just a "they say" thing wink.gif i'm just wondering because either way i'm gonna choose it represent it's pretty pricy, i even thought about taking a combo with 6600K + asus pro gaming for 421€.
And save the difference for a new GPU. But this is another debate. In which people say that going for a I7 is the way to go nowdays because of DX12 and CPU intensive games.

This.

There's no way in hell that a 6700K will bottleneck a 1080. It won't bottleneck an 1180 or 1280 when they come out, either. Or an AMD Fury Z or whatever they decide to call it.

I think you should get cheaper of the two. The 6600K is going to be the best investment in terms of gaming right now even after the fact that DX12 & Vulkan are the future. I'd pair a good CPU with the best GPU I can afford for gaming.

OP, the most gaming performance you will get with your budget is to get the 6600k for less than the 6700k and then buy a GTX 1060 to go with it. The GTX 1060 is almost twice as fast as a GTX 960 while the difference between the 6600k & 6700k in gaming is nil.

This has been true from the 2500k to the 4670k/4690k and now the 6600k. I opted for a 6600k in my new build, and if all of the sudden games start effectively using more than 4 cores and I'm loosing performance because of it I can change to a 6 core CPU. With a GTX 960 there is no way that the 6700k or 5820k will improve gaming performance over a 6600k. If you do other things than gaming which can actually take advantage of HyperThreading or more cores, then that make change things.

Okay, thanks guys, meanwhile i've re-checked the prices,

and the Z170 combo i've made rise up to 600€.

the X99 combo still at the same price.. (761€)

If i choose the 6600k + Asus Pro gaming (in a bundle) it will cost me 421€ which still me 380€ for a GPU.

So a 6600k + asus pro gaming + ram + ASUS 1080 = 895€ ..

i don't know what do you think about this config' let me know smile.gif

I'd rather spend on the 1070 or even a 980ti if available and spend the change on a better 1440p monitor preferably with G-Sync if you can. Those card and the one you chose would be severely bottlenecked at your current resolution

I'm currently playing in 1440*900.. it don't make me wanna change for now (that's the fact why my 960, 4G is still fine for now.) But i'll feel bad to not exploit the full potential of my new build.. ^^
