Here's another video.

Both processors at 3GHz.

In blender Vishera has close score to Sandy Bridge clock 2 clock.

Have they though?

780Ti msrp - $700, 780 msrp - $650 vs 290x msrp - $549, 290 msrp $399. Same for Titan Z with an msrp of $3k vs the 295x2 at $1500.

Even when you look at the fury, performance aside everyone was expecting it to be priced around $1k, but it beat the expectations by a wide margin.

So I think there's precedent to think that the zen will cost less than everyone is expecting.

they were using HBM just released technology, meanwhile nvidia was using 12GB of 2008 released dram

I'm not talking about the fury line. I'm talking about their GPUs going back to the 7970.

the 6970 was priced at $370
the 6990 was priced at $700 to match Nvidia's 590
the 7970 launched at $550 (~50% increase over 6970), the price was revised to $450 when the 680 came out at a lower price ($500)
the 7990 was priced at $1000 to match Nvidia's 690
the 290x kept the $550 price tag because the 780ti priced higher at $700
the 295x2 was priced at $1,500 to chase nvidia's titan Z they didn't match the ludicrous price tag of nvidia but $1500 is still a 50% price increase over their previous dual chip card.

AMD is no angel. They push the price up as much as they think the market will allow.

Your numbers kind of prove my point. the price has gone up and up. They will likely stay just one step under their competition but if the competition's price is high, so with AMD's prices.

Hence why I predict a $850-$1000 price tag if the top zen 8core chip matches intel's $1000 8 core chip

LMAO, if it matches a $1k Intel CPU then they will price it at $750, no more. Mindshare from haters/intel fanboys and the need to have an aggressive price will see to that. unlike a mid range GPU, they actually have competition here that won't shoot itself in the foot.

first things first, will it even match the $1k Intel CPU?

Did you forget about the glorious FX 9590 and it's $900 launch price? And that wasn't even a new arch.

IPC wise ? maybe. but the way they underclocked i7 to 3ghz to match zen shows zen will have frequency issues. maybe RIP overclocking on cpus too ? tongue.gif

AMD can't win one even when they're specifically addressing their IPC issue redface.gif
