Ultrawide display - Laptop with hdmi

Guys if I buy a HDMI -> DVI cable would it display 2560x1080 from the laptop?

Monitor is Asus PB298q
Laptop Dell Inspiron 13 7000

yes or no, DVI-D can be single or dual link, Dual Link supports up to 2560 × 1600 @ 60hz

You need to make sure that cable is dual link This cable is single link

edit: however I would assume that because they have not stated that it is Dual Link, it is single link, and therefor only capable of 1920x1200 @ 60 Hz. To achieve the resolution you want, you will need to drop to 30 Hz, or just get the right cable.

edit2: yeah you can see by the pins that is Single Link, so no, this cable will not suit your needs.


Here is a dual link cable, note that it specifically says dual link in the spec
