Did I order the wrong parts?

Thread Starter
Hi guys.. I recently purchased some compression fittings, barbs and tubing. I was seeing how they connect and it seems like, even though the compression fittings and barbs are the same size (All 3/8 x 5/8), they physically are not on the OD? The compression fittings are way more difficult to connect to the tubing than the barbs. Did I order the wrong tubing??

Most of the compression fitting i used the fit is tight... looks ok to me.
Are u able to fit the compression nut ? (sorry if the term is incorrect, my english is bad tongue.gif.

Yeah, it screws on.. it just seems like the ID of the tubing should be slightly wider.

It seems like manufactures use some fuzzy math to size fittings and tubing sometimes. I've seen this too even between different fittings from the same brand. As long as it fits without leaking I wouldn't worry. If it is just a little too snug it helps to dip the end of the tube in some hot water before putting it on the barb to soften it up. That also makes for a tighter fit so it is less likely to leak

If screws on and you feel that the tube is getting pressed is the right part. thumb.gif

I think a few ways to combat this problem is warm water.  Don't quote me, never have done soft tubing
