I've decided to just buy a Noctua NH-dh14. Overclocked it to 4.5ghz @ 1.28v and it seemed stable with no errors when running prime95 for a few hours @ 70~75c. I've dropped it to 4.4ghz @1.235v at 65~70c. Core 2 been failing the test constantly since I've had it at 1.220v all the way to 1.235v with no system crash yet. Should I keep increasing the voltage by 5mv?

Seems like. Or you could surgically remove core 2 and celebrate a trifecta of skylake cores.

Could also attempt another mount and tweak the case airflow as those temps seem a tad high.

What's your ambient temp? Digital Thermometer Salesman and Cold Air advocate, @doyll, will be along soon enough to monitor your willingness to monitor the cooler intake temps.

Alright, I'm attempt to surgically remove core 2. Going to remount the heat sink again and see what the temps look like with mx-4.

How'd it go? Was the operation a success? Is the patient still a thermal case? Since you seem comfortable with 14nm surgery, have considered delidding the 6600k?

Those temps are on core or on PKG?

If they're on PKG then I would say you have good temps there

Have switched from H100i to Noctua NH-D15 and my temps dropped by 8°C on PKG to reasonable 65°C at 4.4GHz and at same PKG temps as on H100i at 4.4GHz 74°C I'm now running 4.5GHz on i7-5820k

I would suspect you can lower temps by trying different thermal paste,if you are not used Noctua NH-H1 then I would give try or I would suggest Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut too which I'm using there

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura

Those temps are actually very good if you are running 4.6GHz

This load you shouldn't see unless you are doing rendering or you do encoding,in games you shouldn't see those temps, but depends how game is threaded

67°C on PKG is quite good in my view, you can try switch between the thermsl pastes,I've tried like AS5 which has been OK,then ShinEtsu with which I've 2°C lower temps on PKG,PK-3 has been not best,no temperature drop at all,Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut with that my temps dropped by 5°C on PKG

Hope this helps

Thanks,Jura
