first custom build

post #1 of 2
Thread Starter
Im making a deskbuild (my first custom build) and im going to put water cooling in it (first time water cooling) .
now i have a question on the watercooling setup.

i am going to cool cpu+gpu
cpu=i7 6700k
gpu= 1x 1070gtx (maybe later 2x 1070gtx so it need to be futureproof)

question 1

size of radiator needed ?

question 2

dual loop or single loop? is there much diffrence in performance?
if single loop should i put a radiator between cpu and gpu? or doenst that really mather?

A general rule of thumb is a minimum of 120mm rad space per component and then and extra 120 if your OC'ing. Another rule is a 120 per 100 watts TDP. You do not need dual loops for just two components and the radiators they require, there will not be that much restriction to warrant it. However, since it's a desk build I have seen others use dual loops for aesthetic reasons to fill up the desk space. Loop order doesn't matter either because the water temp will equalize throughout the loop, and especially since your doing a desk build just put the rads wherever they are going to show off and look the best. Make sure to do a build log so we can all see the awesomeness!
