GTX 1060 3GB vs AMD RX 480 for 1080p gaming - Page 2

I'd pick the cheaper of the RX480 8gGB or the GTX1060 6GB. But since you mentioned BF games, I'd be biased towards AMD even if that card is a little expensive against the Nvidia counterpart due to it being a DX12 release.

1060 seems like a better investment.

disclaimer: neither amd/nvidia biased. i have both brands on different products; i.e. laptop, tablet, phone, graphics card

The 6GB version - maybe. Against the 3GB? Might as well get a cheaper 970 with 3.5GB.

See, I have a HD 7950 with 3GB. It will run out of power in 1080 before vram. Crossfired, yah, I will run out of vram before power in some games. The 1060 3GB is faster than my 7950. Much faster that will run out of vram before power in some games. Much like crossfire HD 7950s.

Few games i play now days vram usage at 1080p max setting

gta v (vram usuage 4.1GB)

Doom (Vram usuage 3.7GB - 4.5GB

Evolve stage 2 ( Vram usuage 3.5gb - 4gb)

Personally if i was buying new gpu at this time for 1080p gaming I wouldn't go under 4gb vram.

Pretty sure there's a hotfix somewhere on OCN, i was reading about it the other day

Oh yeah? how is that since i can only seem to find custom AIBs 1060 at a equal or lower price than reference 480s ?

Also ignore completely the 3GB version of 1060, that's total nonsense

Might not work, but the fact they're working on it is reassuring, and will be probably fixed soon, also i'm not sure everyone is suffering from dpc latency

Not every pascal owner is experiencing the issue. It's a silicon lottery sort of.
