Wow... you're a bit out of date. SC has a working alpha currency for in-gam PCW, clothes and armor. You can spend all day running around turning off comm arrays to legit troll people who then cant complete missions till they're back on. Changes in ship configuration are remembered by server and you can get wanted levels that automatically put bounties on your death. Ship damage isn't instantly gone with a resummon either. Repair/refuel/reload are working as a landing platform interaction.

You can smugturbate all you want but right now SC has the most realistic PVP ever done in space in ship or out. If you'd actuall played this freefly you'd have more than a year old complaint.

Wasn't it 2016 that it was supposed to be finished and out? I'm pretty sure that's what they said, when it was first announced...

I'll wait for the reviews, thanks.

Did you just try to sell a 'glorified alpha' as something worthy of a full release? I think EA is hiring, quick, send your CV thumb.gif!

They arent trying. We're starting full game with about 10x the shown promised detail per system and 100 systems.

If you just rough math it you could spend about 400 minutes in Q-drive to just pass by 1% of the content without looking at it. We've only been seeing the content that they have to show us for testing to comply with their open alpha policy.

No ignorant false and misleading promises of unlimited and infinite possibilities here.

Look up freelancer, 6x the star systems with 100x the locations per 100,000x bigger systems without the silly tradelanes.

Not exactly sure I understand what you are saying. All I am saying is with this amount of detail they are putting into the game (at least the amount they put into this system and Levski), I do not think it is feasible to have every system/station/outpost that highly detailed. Are they using procedural generation (for the stations and what not. I know they are for the planets in general)? I did not think they were which means all these things have to be hand built. If they are, then I stand corrected and ignore my comment.

At 23 million there was a vote by the backers on their website to stop funding and get the game done or keep going... They obviously voted to keep going.

They are using procedural generation but only as a template for doing the "handcrafted" stuff.

SC isn't even close to fully released.
ED is garbage compared to SC. However, it's at least playable. But again the quality of the game is no where near SC.

My issue with ED is this - It feels like a glorified text adventure with a fancy not so fancy GUI. The tasks are meaningless, samey sameness of exploring is worse than what ive experienced in NMS, the srv 80% exploding bug makes exploring not worth the effort, flying around space doesnot not in any sense feel like im in space, instead it feels like im wrapped in a crappy skybox that suffers from the fish bowl effect if you go past the ingame FOV setting of which is ridiculously low and the latest patch is simply insulting.

Why do i prefer SC even though ive spent no money, only tried the demo and watched videos? Easy - SC know its a video game and knows to make sacrifices where required to actually make the game fun. From the interface to the "void"... i actually feel like im in space. Take my comment from earlier about accidentally/not accidentally ejecting from my space ship while boosting towards a comms relay - Seeing my ship disappear into the distance in one direction and the comms relay in the other...ive never felt such a feeling in a game of being so, frankly, (my apologies mods for the language) ****ed. The feeling that no one, the chances of anyone finding me...the only thing that allows me to function in the game has disappeared into the vastness of space and no one is going to find me... Elite can never match that in its current state and no game ive played thus far has either.

SC = Space simulator, the sort gaming was made for
ED = Text adventure for those with far too much free time

If SC doesnt deliver, then fine, ive yet to invest a cent, but the fact that what ive experienced so far feels more complete that the many "features" elite has is what i find more promising.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away... unless you're diabetic.

first, let me preface my comments with this -> If SC comes out looking like it does in the tech demos, without the annoying lag or instance issues, it will be the game I finally buy a vr headset for.

I LOVE the look of the tech demos.

Now that we have that out of the way. ED is basically privateer-> which was my fav space game of all time. I wish the ships didn't look so lame, I wish space combat was more exciting and functional, and I wish exploring felt like exploring the universe not just jumping around to the same place with a different name. As a space exploration game it falls flat. As a space combat game it falls flat. As a space trading game it works, to a point. The fun with ED (what fun there is) is building up systems through grinding missions. It actually happens which is sorta cool. setting that aside, no it's not a great game.

Yeah, I would love a game like what they claim star citizen will be. However SC has been vaporware for half a decade now. And all the fancy tech demos won't get my hyped until we have a playable final product.
