MSI 2225 MHZ possible?!

Hey everyone,

I just got my MSI GTX1080 Gaming X (EK waterblock arrvied the same time actually). I have always bought EVGA or Asus in the past, put this is the first "faster" clocked card I could get my hands on, which also had a waterblock ready.

Sooo, my question is, I put the card (with OEM twin frozr on - before installing the waterblock to make sure it works) in and decided to run the Heaven benchmark

First time around I just put everything off and MED quality and got 2225mhz core clock during the benchmark. The second time I put everything to max settings (quality ultra, everything on), and got 2012mhz core clock.

Did I do something wrong or am I missing something huge here? Can my card actually do 2225mhz?!?!? I didn't provide any details but surely I must be doing something wrong? Is it becaues the settings?

Anyone knowledgable able to chim in? I can provide more details as needed. Hopefully someone sheds some light here within 8 hours, becuase then I have a flight to catch and it's my last chance to get another card!

Thanks!!! Love the card!

Heaven benchmark is reading wrong clocks. Try using GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner.

What is your gpu asic quality ?? Depending on your gpu ASIC quality if it is more than 78% yes maybe you can

But heaven benchmark not consider a heavy benchmark so you should try another heavy benchmark like 3D Mark or even try any game maxed out for 2 hours if no issue then congrats you can !! But would you tried to increase your voltage ??

thanks guys! sorry for the sloppy post but writing from hotel room on sp4 tablet. before i left home i ran the 3d mark stress test fire whatever extreme and was getting 26-36ish (off the ttop of my head), but specifically got a max core mhz of 2265mhz registered on cpuid' hwmonitor

is this for real? this number seems too high for pascal, at least compared to other gtx1080s. especially given stock cooler etc
