[XDA] Android Nougat Finally Released — Coming Your Way! - Page 10

M7 was such a beautiful phone at the time! HTC really made an all time classic with that phone (which they followed up with a pretty amazing M8 as well but there's nothing like the first)! I played with the HTC 10 at the store the other day but after the Note 5 I simply can't go back to a smaller screen. Its ruined me and I NEED that big screen now. Its funny too because just 5 years ago I got my first smart phone ever (an HTC Incredible) and it had a 3.7" screen! I remember when the first Droid X came out with a 4.3" screen I thought "why would anybody want such a huge phone in their pocket for???" Lol, my how time and perceptions change!

The larger convenience for me was that it was stupid easy to flash, dont have to think about modems or basebands but maybe I was just lucky. I even accidentally wipe the phone of the Data and the system and was still able to rebuild it with adb-sideload with my laptop. As opposed to relying on ODIN to be able to detect the device, which when I got my phone softbricked was a serious irritation.

That and it fit perfectly in the cup holder of my car, note 4 is too large

To me that's an infinitely stupid decision, but I'm sure some people might like it being more iOS-like?

Although I've heard you can just download an app drawer? Not sure, although I basically never use stock android anyway, I usually opt for cyanogen mod w/ google pico anyway.
Like that is a problem anyway.
If you want a app drawer on Android you can have an app drawer very easily.

Nice another Android update that never makes it to phones already sold and probably doesn't support the HW either.
Did they finally add MediaTek support or is it needed to be added.

I've never seen Android updates get pushed down to already sold devices beyond the most expensive models and Google sold ones.

How is the SD memory support? Does it still disconnect randomly like on most previous Androids?

Played with 4.4.4 /. 5.0 / 5.1.1 / and 6.0.1 and never had SD card issues. Never heard of that being a problem in general but never had the issue so never looked into it.

As for MediaTek, isnt it up to them if they are open source? They are kind of back and forth on what open source from what I understand

My only complaint about the m7 is that it's so slippery. Luckily it's built like a tank. I've never used a case and have had countless drops that should have been fatal but this thing keeps going and going.

My first HTC phone was HTC Excalibur/T-Mobile Dash back in like 06-07, wasn't too impressive as a phone. Some of the worst build quality I've ever had. The front was fake brushed aluminum but it was poorly glued on and would fall off, battery life was abysmal, but I did like Windows mobile

Also had gotten the HTC Aria in 2010, great phone, took a beating and lasted quite a few years for me. I remember that I got it over the galaxy s because they were somewhat similar but the Aria was cheaper and I was still in college at the time.

From my limited experience seems like HTC has improved quite a bit over the years.

I am not an Apple fan at all, but they are not installing Twitter/Farmville 2/adverts on my clean OS install either. Regardless of the privacy argument, just give me a single unified OS I pay for, no distractions. If Google followed Apple in the unified OS front, but left out bloatware, it could really take off honestly, it might be too late though, already too many devices outdated, etc. Not everyone wants a new phone every 2 years, or are well, just not well off financially.

I disagree. It's just some simple fun and I think it helps those consumers less in the know to have a common name like Marshmallow or Nougat than remembering 6.0.1 or 2.3.4 or 4.1.1 etc. Wonder if my ZenFone 2 will get this eventually, they are still doing beta testing for Marshmallow for my particular model though even though half the other ZF2s have Marshmallow already. This phone was only released last year but Asus have their ZF3 now and I feel like this is where the ZF2 will be left behind.
