Multi vs single rails

Can someone please defunct why EVGA uses single rail PSUs ? I don't understand the marketing here, and yes I have read http://www.overclock.net/t/761202/single-rail-vs-multi-rail-explained. They claim is offers more protection that i have seen on some multi rail units, now my understanding here is at the end of the day it really doesn't matter, but it kind of does when were talking safety. I know it doesn't affect the performance of any PSU but why does it say in that link above multi rail is safer and it sounded to me that single rail doesn't have OCP, but that is false. Look here http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=220-P2-0850-X1. In fact this single rail PSU offer 5 different layers of protection I have yet to read about. So have things changed in the world of multi vs single rail PSUs ? Really from what I have read that multi rail just breaks up your amp load across multiple rails or yes I know that means traced on the PCB.

Don't some multi rail PSUs still only have a single rail distribution ? This marketing is so confusing as I cant tell what is true or not. Multi Rail to me definitely means each modular connection has its own set of OCP and amps. Where the single rail even to this day has protections from what i'm seeing from EVGA, but isn't there still a chance on say a higher wattage PSU on a single rail to possible cause a fire because by the time you hit say 80 amps its too late ? i knwo I'm being picayune but i'm sick of the back and forth and want a definitive answer for gods sake.

As PSUs were approaching 1,000 watts they went to multi rail PSUs to reduce the current available on a single rail as that current was getting high enough to seriously injure people - then the marketing spin started.

The evga psu linked contradicts what your saying. It is single rail with protections. So this seems different than what the traditional argument is.

It has protection for over volt and burning up motherboards and peripherals, but no protection for electrocuting you, no PSUs have that. (edit) on their rails
