It's even funny how they come up with the conclusions they do. Such as looking at data for a 8GB card to determine that a game uses too much vram for a 4GB card.

The fact that we've seen cards with more memory cache more memory over the years suddenly is forgotten as long as it allows us to tell someone else that a certain card is unusable.

Here's a good example. GTX 980 and 970 vs 980 Ti, 1080 and 1070. The first two use under 4GB, the next 3 use almost 5GB. Yet all run it just fine. Even the 3.5GB 970 going over it's 3.5GB limit isn't skipping and pausing like they say it does. rolleyes.gif

So you're saying the 3.5gb was never an issue even though there was 60+ articles confirming it and also a lawsuit.

If you're saying this on your cherry picked video please try harder it

it was an issue unless you're calling the 100s of people that had issues liars? including myself PLEASE ELABORATE FOR ME as it seems the "mod" tag as went to your head as a licence to speak utter garbage.

What was the rest of your setup like? No reviews site bothers with thorough testing so no 3rd party links. I'd only be able to provide my own benches.

The lawsuit was the nail in the coffin on this one redface.gif
I mean really? Was it all necessary nVidia?

Here we go, the leaking has started
GTX1050 - 768 CUDA cores, 32 ROPs and 4GB memory on a 128bit bus.

VCZ
BenchLife

As expected, more or less. Clocks are kind of low, i thought nvidia said 2 of these will push over 5 tflops.
So it's essentially an OC'd 950 with4GB? I'm sure they will have a 2GB version too although only the 4GB will be bench marked. and not against a 950.
Yeah pretty much an OCed 950. I assume it will boost to just under 1500MHz, but doesn't look like it will be able to catch gtx960. It will beat rx460 tho, so they will price it a bit higher like $150. I'm sure nvidia will bench it against gtx750ti in their promo materials as it uses last gen Gx107 chip

Have to wonder why the GPU clock is so low. Does nvidia want this card to be crazy efficient so they purposely limited the clocks or is it maybe made on Samsung's 14nm process which may not allow higher clocks? Or something else?

What

The 1050 is gonna be probably on par with 7950

7950 handle 4k at 30 fps and medium setting in lot of game...

2gb ram is far from enough.....

Ah well people says to not use msaa sure you dont need vram with ugly graphic headscratch.gif

How about before you personally attack someone do a little research to see where they stand on an issue instead of misconstruing one sentence as being how that person actually thinks?

If you did, you'd see that I have repeatedly stated the 3.5GB issue was the slimiest thing I've ever seen in gaming and Nvidia deserved the lawsuit and to lose market share.

Here's one. Here's another. There's plenty more but you get the point already don't you?

And the entire point of that video was to show an example of a card with larger memory caching more memory leading some to believe a game needs more vram then it actually does. The 970 just happened to also be in the video. I grabbed the first one that showed a 980 and a 1080 together.

kinda weird that the smaller chip is clocked lower. It seems Nvidia are trying to stay low clock to stay within 75w specification.

This thing might be a super OCing chip.

My 2GB card have never once crippled any games at high setting till this day on my 1080p. Go to any youtube channel and see how much Vram are 4K gaming eating up. For those going for 1080p, just head down to youtube and see as well (from their D3D data)

Some game Ultra / Max setting may go beyond that, but budget gamer knows what is best to reduce setting since they are on budget anyway.

I've had modded skyrim at ultra with tons of mods hit over 7gb on surround. It is possible. 12gb is justified of you use it.
