Recommendations on a mini ITX build for single 1080p PLEX streaming.

Thread Starter
Anyone have good parts for a PLEX build?
24/7. Single 1080p stream only.
Needs to be a slim mini ITX case, like the Fractal Node 202, or Silverstone Raven.
Starting from scratch.
Have TV.
Please lend me some ideas.

Thanks.

Not to self promote (but kind of), I did a streaming / ITX box, not sure if this is the type of thing you're looking for http://www.overclock.net/t/1593443/realan-w-60-mini-itx-htpc-emulator-build. It works quite well for 1080p streaming (and light gaming), its basically what the AM1 platform was designed for.

I built one using a Pentium N3700 embedded cpu, requires no fan, extremely power efficient. It will encode 1 1080P stream and if you do not need encoding it will support many streams!

Looks like the J3710 is out now which is the same as n3700 except the turbo boost is 2.6ghz instead of 2.4ghz

I'm actually trying to build a PLEX media server (maybe two streams), check my Node 304 Rig. Mostly made with second hand parts.

It would look nice in a Node 202, but do you want to make a PLEX streaming rig, or do you want it to store your media ? 'cause in that case, the Node 202 might be limited by the number of HDD you can put in (and their noise)... But I might be totally wrong.

the node 202 has 2 HDD bays. That could possibly work even if he needs storage....

2x 4TB drives in raid 1 and an ssd for the OS ( im sure theres room to put an SSD in there somewhere).. OR just put the OS on the raid1 drives...

Here is my Build Log to my Plex media server. It definitely overkill for what you listed you wanted to do, but may give you some ideas. I have since changed a few things with the build but works awesome!

An i3 6100 works good for me. Is it for the server or client you are building?
