How to enable 16xQ CSAA 32x CSAA Anti-Aliasing with GTX 9xx series?

Hello everyone.

My favorite games (Source games, HL2, L4D2, CS:S, DoD:S, etc.) looks horrible with 8 MSAA! Unlike 16xQ CSAA & 32x CSAA I see aliasing and jaggies everywhere.

I searched for good and found out Nvidia discontinued supporting 16xQ CSAA & 32x CSAA after the GTX 6xx series, but why Nvidia, WHY? sozo.gif

Currently trying to find a way to force 16xQ in Left 4 Dead 2 with Nvidia Inspector, but i had no luck because as soon as i choose 16xQ the game will crash and a warning will pop-up saying Display Driver recovered from crash, and i have to restart the PC to make things get back to normal.

I tried to force SGSSAA, but it creates blur which i hate (same reason i try to avoid using FXAA), tried different LOD bias settings with SGSSAA but unfortunately it doesn't help, my games look horrible compared to my previous PC which had GTX 570 which supports 16xQ CSAA and 32x CSAA.

How do I force 16xQ CSAA 32x CSAA with Nvidia Inspector, what are correct AA compatibility settings for Left 4 Dead 2 and Half-Life 2?

I would be greatly appreciated it if you help me frown.gif

You have to match MSAA and SGSSAA if not creates blur, also without the correct "compatibility bit" doesn't work well ...

I know this, and i have used correct profile for L4D2 which is 0x000000C0, but blur is still there.

Here you can find a good list of game profiles http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=357956

I just want to know how to enable 16xQ CSAA and 32x CSAA, i dont want SGSSAA.

Anyone knows how to force 16xQ CSAA & 32x CSAA with nvidia inspector?

Oh frown.gif
they just disabled those AA settings from the drivers probably just a soft-lock. MSAA + DSR ?

Does that mean there is no way to force 16xQ or 32x CSAA?

DSR is also adding blur, and reducing DSR Smoothness is making DSR ineffective.

Though it sounds like you are adverse to effect of supersampling, have you tried these AA settings in NI: 4xS, 8xS and 8xSQ?

I tried these now, and the amount of blur is very bad, i just don't understand why Nvidia discontinued supporting 16xQ CSAA & 32x CSAA?

Isn't there any AA option that doesn't produce blur?
How can I force 16xQ CSAA & 32x CSAA, is it impossible?
Would reverting back to old Nvidia drivers that had support of those AA would give me option to choose 16xQ CSAA & 32x CSAA, or do i need a physical GPU pre 7xx series?

Try using GeDoSaTo to force a higher render resolution and downsample from there. Use lanczos and it will remove a good deal of the blur you would see. You can also force AA through it as well.

Thanks for your suggestion but these tools are very buggy as I read, and they need a hell tonnes of work to set games properly. I read many games especially Source engine based games have mouse issues and menus doesn't work properly.

I also feel very lucky for not jumping and downloading this tool because

You could be risking a VAC ban. This is due to Dynamic Link Library injection methods that GedoSato uses. Use at your own risk!

So this tool is a big nope for me.

Can anyone answer if they know the answer of my questions, especially the last one.

Seeing from your build and your responses you are competent with your situation, but anyways here's a (possibly braindead) question: Are you running your games at your monitor's full 1440P resolution? If so, are you absolutely certain? This leads back to whether your monitor/gcard interconnect cable can handle 1440P. Just making sure all bases are covered here.
