[Space] Found! Potentially Earth-Like Planet at Proxima Centauri Is Closest Ever - Page 6

Reminds me of that guy on UFO hunters, while listening sagely to some story about lights in the night sky, knows without a doubt those lights are clearly ET. Or the bigfoot hunters that know every squirrel fart heard in the woods at night is a "squatch". Inane speculation, for commercial purposes. You can't prove life exists outside our planet and I can't disprove it. There is zero evidence that it does, however. All arguments that there must be something out there because out there is so big are signs of wishful thinking.

Rulers of the Universe meeting this week at the convention center. Accept it.

Life existing elsewhere in The Universe is a statistical certainty. Intelligent life existing elsewhere in The Universe is a statistical certainty. There is strong evidence to suggest that Mars and Venus were once habitable. Intelligent life existing near us or able to travel to us is nigh impossible you know physics and all. Aliens have not visited our planet ever, or at the very least since mankind has been here, for which I am thankful.

On a side note if Proxima Centauri b hosts a habitable world we probably don't have to worry about it having a civilization on it as we haven't observed any radio transmissions from it. Still getting human beings there would likely be a feat our entire planet would have to focus it's resources towards. It took the efforts of roughly 1% of the entire US population to send three people to the moon, imagine the effort it will take for over 4 light years.

I don't want to speak for essanbee, but what I think he is saying and I agree, is that we were created by God and we hold a special place as we encompass the center of his creation underneath a firmament. As such there can be no aliens.

Don't believe everything scientists/man tells you.

Not to stray or go off topic. The Bible kind of shows that they exist.(it gets a little biblically technical why we don't see them and some other reasoning)

The premise that life does not exist beyond Earth (other than were we take it, of course) can be disproven by the existence of any life we happen to find anywhere else.

The premise that life only exists on Earth is something that is much more difficult to demonstrate.

So far, this is true.

However, I'd argue that absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, and is even less of an excuse not to look.

Man, not God, told you that story you summed up in your first sentence.

Anyway, if that is what Essanbee was saying, he should have come out and said it. That way I could have dismissed it as an irrational display of faith and not some gross, but honest, misstep of logic.

If you don't believe in the possibility of alien life because a man says its exists, then why do you believe in God? Circular logic is the basis of religion after all.
Edit: Just realized the song I'm listening to is perfect for this thread; Greys by Drowning a Deity. It makes this thread that much better.

We probably need to get to Mars and conquer that before we move on to exploring planets in other star systems.

Also, don't get all "Grey Theory" on here. Seriously... everyone knows that the reason they look like they do is because they are humanity from the future, and they are prodding us to try and figure out how to look like us again. wink.gif

I have not made any previous statements based on a religious principal. And I also do not denigrate the religious or atheist belief's of others. I was mostly playing devil's advocate and snarking a little. However, statistical certainties, and fantastical formulas aside, there is no evidence that anything but us exists. We have visited other worlds, in person and through probes. Nothing found yet. We have listened on many spectrums and millions of radio frequencies, still nothing. Everyone who believes that there has to be something out there is speculating. I am not belittling your blind belief in their existence. Until proven otherwise; We Are Alone.
