Great job! The case looks amazing all assembled. You made a great choice waxing the paint job as it gives it a nice sheen and makes everything pop.

A little embarrassment on my part, when I first glanced at the back/left(non window side) shot, it looked like you had put the top panel on a hinge and it was propped open......... until I noticed it was just the screen door redface.gif haha

Thanks! The natural light really helps show off how the case looks. I agree about the wax too, the detail really stands out now and best of all it's a lot harder to smudge and scratch + if I do get light scratches it will be on the wax and not the paint so I can always get them out.

No hinges here, same door handle locking latch as always. The side-panel window is actually of higher quality acrylic (twice as thick, too) than that of my new Phanteks Enthoo Pro. Looking through it is like looking through glass but the Phanteks side-panel window shows warping if you look at it from an angle. Funny how 15 years later that a $100 case is using cheaper acrylic. The rest of the Phanteks case is top-quality and for that I do love it but... that window!

Now to decide what to do with this case.

Update: I've decided what to do with the case - I'm going to put my existing older build into it. The one I showed pictures of with the KLEVV memory on an X58 system. I feel like the color scheme will work well in this case.

Before moving the computer over, I've decided to commit to learning how to sleeve my cables. I ordered everything I need (aside from wire, pins and a crimper) to modify the existing modular cables. Ordered a variety of Paracord colors for any future projects as well. Will be going with a Black / Red / White / Black theme with the cabling.

Great to hear about deciding on which system to put into it.

If you have any questions on paracord sleeving, feel free to send me a message. Also Lutro's videos on youtube are pretty solid, I watched a couple before working on my current paracord sleeving for Project Military Tech.

Nice! Yea I'm going to try and go with the heatshrink-less look wherever possible as well. Already did the front panel switches and LED cables. With those ends though you have to use heatshrink. Practiced a bit on a Molex to PCIe splitter as well and should be able to make it all work. Got some 425 paracord which is a little smaller but makes for a very taught cable, which I like. Just a pain getting the sleeving over the connector pins.

I wrap the pin with a tiny piece of blue painters tape, then it slides through without snagging. When doing the ATX pins, doing the female side catches less since the end isn't as sharp.

I was using electrical tape since I have some in my room but I could grab the extra painters tape I have if that works better. I hope to get started measuring out the paracord I'll need to sleeve my one molex chord and get everything staged before doing the sleeving. Figure it will be easier to measure equal distances with the first respective piece.

Most definitely easier, this job was the first time I pre measured and cut all the pieces. Each piece is lining up perfectly and keeping taught to the wire. Biggest tip I can give is do a quick melt of the frayed tips. This was my first time doing that and it prevents further fraying while you slide it over the wire.

Glad to hear it worked out that way. Makes me feel better about deciding to pre-cut the sleeve for the entire cable I'll be working on before starting. And yes, I quickly caught on to melting the ends first. I do it very slightly initially so it won't fray right away and then slide it over a small screwdriver and get it a little more. Makes sure the end stays open as wide as it can that way, too.

Thread Starter
Finding enough time recently to start going down the tedious path of sleeving my cables. At this point I've only done some testing and then finished a Molex cable and PCIe 6-pin extension cable. Using 425 Paracord, working well so far and very happy with the results. I will go into more detail about what I'm trying to do and what I've picked up in the process.
