Kind of a bland article compared to Anandtech's two on Zen so far.

nope. the fair and balanced tech media will unanimously bury Zen once it comes out to be the disappointment we all know is coming. If it's not at least 10% faster than the comparable Intel offering and 50% cheaper then it's a fail.

EDIT: Also should draw 40% less power than a 6700K.

Anything better than the crappy FX8xxx line is good. Of course I don't expect them to beat Intel Haswell in performance/power especially in single core.

Everyone will be having AMD's funeral soon.

Then will soon cry when prices stay high lol.

Anyway, so this guy is the lead architect? I thought Keller was? Or did the title change hands after he leave?

AMD says:
Quote:
"Zen is not a destination; it's a starting point"

Site interprets it as:
Quote:
I hope that the Zen+ refrain isn't a preemptive ploy to defray possible disappointment with the first Zen generation. Designing one microarchitecture to address all market segments is a risky proposition, and AMD has to be careful with our heightened expectations; yet another disappointment could serve it a crushing blow.

I love how all of the AMD articles have a serious dark, assuming the worst, glass half empty, end of the world tone to them. Of course Zen is a starting point, it's a brand new architecture. The only people with heightened expectations are the people who overhype it themselves and then blame AMD for over hyping it.

Do people really expect a company like AMD and their god awful budget to just bounce back and beat both Nvidia and Intel handily? Not going to happen.

What hype? AMD has to talk about the product sometime you know? They are hardly, and I mean hardly talking about it considering how close it is.

The mere announcement of a product is hype so they deserve it.
