[GR] No Man’s Sky Active Players Drops By 90% - Page 5

Overhyped indie title disguised as AAA game biggrin.gif

They bundled the game with alot of hardware, so people tried it and stopped playing it.

It was very boring and repetitive IMO. It was to be expected..

23hours later Finished the atlas quest, have 30 odd inventory slots and bought a ship for 8mil units. Don't see the point in playing any more (e.g getting to the centre of the universe - needs more variance) but don't regret the money spent. Even with all the flaws... There's a lot of games I have put less hours into and paid full price for

Should have been 100%.

I can only hope those poor unfortunate players left stuck in that universe find the will to acknowledge that they're living a lie and move on with life.
I just hope most people got a refund in time. It would be a shame to see a dev rewarded (financially) for this.

Same thing happened with the division. Over hype, under deliver.

Its gaming marketing.

Glad I never bought NMS.

I think we got your point, it's just that Peter Molineux at least made good games once: syndicate, dungeon keeper, populous, etc. Sean Murray did nothing good yet.

i didn't follow the game before release, but after release saw a video with the promises, the developer team right out lied to people faces, and showed gameplay elements that weren't in the game.

The game is a glorified resource gathering game, the fact that you have a ship and can go and leave planets it's a gimmick, and for me, not at all impressive.

Well he worked on Burnout when he was with EA, but you are right. What I have an issue with is that Sean Murray has been "missing" for the past week and have no updates on anything while Peter Molineux knew his misleadings and apologized for them. I did not buy NMS, but its sad to see a game this hyped go this far and then be completely stranded when so many people are looking for answers.

Sean Murray: I think PC games should have Mods and the ability to mod. I almost feel like we need to give them the tools otherwise then they're just going to start making them, tearing apart your game. That's what I have more of a fear of. I think if they get in there and they just start disassembling it they will end up creating parallel universes; like genuinely that's what would happen. They would change the numbers and then someone else would be playing in a different universe, but still posting to our servers.

We will probably give them some tools to allow them to do some stuff. But we don't want people creating new planets within an existing game. I don't think we can stop them doing that if there's a clever enough programmer, which there always is, there are going to be weird things with the game unofficially. But officially I think we probably want to give people some modding ability just so they leave our game alone. Just give them enough creative outlet to keep them busy rather than them thinking of all of the destructive things that they could do.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2014/12/26/an-assortment-of-lesser-known-no-man-s-sky-facts.aspx

Sean Murray hasn't got a clue what he is doing. He basically wants to limit modder's creative freedom so they can't destroy his vision of the game. He wants to leave them just enough to shut up. What a tool. This game absolutely need mods and is made for one. Let players create quests, animals, different planets, space stations. With proper mod support this game could end up huge but the dev is too short-sighted for that. His game deserves to die.

Wow, what a blasted idoit. mad.gif

They need to take a pointer from Cities: Skylines. They gave full on mod support on day one. Heck, they even then took some of the ideas and work them into patches into the main game.

One could only imagine if No Man Sky allowed the same level and work with the modding community.

He sounds like someone if they where an artist, singer, etc. he get piss if someone did a music remix of the song or an inspired art piece from the original.

No kidding, I put a ton of hours into just making creatures. Especially after peeps found glitches that allowed to break the part limit on them. biggrin.gif
