WattTool: A simple tool that combines overclocking with VRM monitoring/tweaking for RX 400 series - Page 18

Wrong.
1) P6<=P7
by You P6>P7
2) LLC=on
by You LLC=off
3) Phase gain=000000
by You=DDD000

I´m getting odd rpm parameters though. My Accelero Mono Plus has a range of 400 to 1500 rpm. So I set it to 600 rpm (600*2/3=400).

Anything I can do to get right values? Thanks in advance.

The fan rpm range is stored in the bios. It is used to translate rpm values to pwm values. But there is a feedback mechanism. Initially the rpm value can be slightly off and is then adjusted over time. I have no idea, why your rpm reading is broken and how the driver reacts to this. You can try to map your rpm range to the reference fan rpm range. It has a maximum of 5200 rpm. Perhaps you have to set it to this value to get the maximum rpm value for your fan. Your min value is 400/1500 = 27%. That would be about 1400 rpm for the reference fan.

Perhaps somebody who replaced the reference cooler can comment on this.

That answer is not very helpful and kind of rude.
  1. is ok.
  2. For LLC=on you have to apply it on boot and usually there is little benefit in using it. I would only recommend it for very experienced overclockers with specific needs.
  3. Phase gain settings also have little effect. For a high power target I would actually suggest keeping the shift to the 6-pin connector.

@anta777

thanks, P6 got set back somehow, had it at 1065. I´ll stick with the phase gain fix by AMD. As I understand LLC prevents power drops. I haven´t had any issue with dropping GPU clock speeds so if the cards wants less power and holds the speed, that´s fine with me.

@BromoL
I´ll try the 1400 rpm fix, thank you very much.

Update:

1400/5200 gives better rpm measurement, around 900 idle, but with 1040/1500 via I get 650-700 idle. Thanks for the effort.

Hi! I've got a question about phase gain: is there any sense in it on rx470? I mean by default i have 000000, but to be on the safe side mb I should switch to FFF000? Will it have effect on rx470? Thanks!

Do not do this on an RX 470. Most of them already have a great 25% slot 75% PCIe power connector power distribution (some are PCIe power only).

Im not 100% sure it will even work as most of them only have 4 phases and that feature requires 5 or 6 phases.

Is there a way to save or future plan to save the profile where it save all the cards settings not just the last 1 and you have to save multiple profiles per RIG? Likewise a feature to load all the .ini vs doing the start.bat to call out each one.

I have flashed a few cards that died later. Manufacturer didn't have issues replacing them. I think it's a YMMV. Seems like this thread is slowing down as no response in 3 days.

Questions for those who auto start watttool via the .bat or scheduler. How are you running watttool profile without crashing the Rig? It seems to only work for me after Claymore completes loading the DAG and start hashing. If I run before it, it will hang my OS.

Hi @bromoL

Thank you for the wonderful tool.

I have an issue using the VRM monitoring/ LLC/ Offset/ Phase change with XFX GPU

Tried it with RX470 & 480 still won't show up

Any advice

What do you mean by "still won't show up"? I do not scan for the I2C line and address, which might be different on your card. Can you try VRMtool?

Just found this Tool after I was looking to solve a way to fix stability issues with my RX480 Red Devil. I removed Radeon settings because they were crashing alot. Now I was wondering what settings I should set in l2C settings.

Default settings are:

LLC = OFF
Phase Gain = 000000
Current scale = A0
Voltage Offset = 5 x 6.25mV
