The truth of the matter is, the early bird gets the worm, and releasing competitive hardware years after your counterpart is bad for buisness.

Would you rather them not do it at all? Should they just shore up the windows and call it quits? You know what would be worse for business?

We all know you're an Intel Fanboi Rick. Stop giving AMD a hard time for trying to compete.

I'll be picking up a Zen core because I want to support the underdog...along with (practically) everyone else over here running a Vishera. Take your bleeding heart back over to the Intel forum. We know they're a little behind, we know it's likely not going to be as fast as the current Intel offering (although it's shaping up to be a possible wrecking ball, and will definitely be cheaper),

However, Intel is still price gouging, still stuffing in iGPU's that gamers don't want, and still selling "unlocked" processors simply to gouge more. Lastly...Zen is just the beginning. Lets watch where 14nm production puts them in a year. I can only imagine...

I see these posts every year, and every year my 1090T dies alittle more inside like my heart.

What a trash comment.....

Guy makes points with valid information... gets called a fanboy...

He's absolutely right though.. Everytime AMD releases something it's always sliiiiightly worse than Intel's offerings and comes a year later... We're already on Skylake and Broadwell-e, why would we move over to Zen? Zen isn't going to the savior for AMD, I'm sorry. A 6700k is like 340 dollars... When Zen releases it'll probably drop down to the 300 dollar range and it's going to be gg... Kaby lake is right around corner... AMD always comes up short. Just enough to stay in the game.

They can't just keep under performing and claiming their goal was to deliver a product at a price point that was fair to everyone. The 4 series Radeon cards is a perfect example of this. Do you really think when they started that project their goal was to come up short to Nvidia's offerings? Let's be real... AMDs GPUs over the last 10 years have been geeeeenerally neck and neck with Nivdia... No be so naive, this whole "we wanted to bring VR to everyone" is nothing but an excuse for coming up short.

I want AMD to succeed as much as the rest, but they need to develop new innovative technologies, not just constantly be a year or two behind Intel. Zen is going to have hyperthreading? Cool. Intel's had hyperthreading for years, why not develop a newer, better technology to hyperthreading to yield better results... I realize easier said than done but when you're in a billion dollar business there's really no excuse.

Bulldozer was supposed to be that better technology. It sacrificed single threaded performance for more wide performance. We all know what happened there. Single threaded performance remains important, and they made a mistake since they did not do that significantly since Phenom II.

In the GPU front, generally AMD is ahead, but they appear behind because software has not caught up to their hardware.

You can call me a fanboy but I came to the realization that an i7 6700k has been out for a year and the gtx 1070 for the last month or so; and the only thing stopping me from purchasing those components was the hope of AMDs return

Purchased my fx 8320 around ivy bridge era and at that time I didn't even flinch, it was AMD all the way. Then Intel rolled out haswell, devils canyon, broadwell, and eventually skylake. Am I a fan boy because benchmarks showed the 4770k 20 fps ahead of my fx 8320 and I still held onto my AM3 platform? Or am I a fanboy because I learned that I should get the best bang for my buck

AMD stockholders wouldn't call you a fanboy. They would call you "earnings potential". thumb.gif

I hope for and AMD return to relevance. I would go back to Team Red in heartbeat if it happened. Had the competitive card been released, I likely would have gone with that rather than the 1070. But, I couldn't spend six months with no GPU.

I'm looking forward to Zen. But I've kinda lost hope for AMD GPU's after Vega was delayed till 2017. This is way too late. Should have been out in October (maybe with BF1 bundle).

Dude, we know. He comes around in ever damn thread to say "Zen won't compete, I bought Intel". I get it, you don't have to spam ever Zen thread hating on it.

I've read what you posted like, 100 times since Zen was announced. I KNOW HOW THE SILICON WAR WORKS. I KNOW KABY LAKE IS GOING TO BE FASTER (it better be or Intel is going to get some serious eyebrow raises at *** is going on over there). And you're right, in the sense that this is AMD's last real chance to be competitive. This is the first time in a long time that they'll be on an architecture the same size as the competition, and with a focus on competition.

It kinda sounds like you're okay with AMD just going away. I'm not. The $40 price drop on the 6700k is a perfect example of why I'm not ready.
