HELP! HELP! HELP! BF4 cant play it, I bought it (3) months ago...

Hey everyone, I purchased BF4 about 3 months ago. And Ive never been able to play it. I figured I would try it again after failing multiple times weeks ago.

I reinstalled the game

Updated my game

Updated Nvidia drivers

And I updated my windows 10

Once I launch it, It says you must have windows Vista or higher.

I have Windows 10, and a GTX 1080, with 16GB of memory, on a 6600K @ 4.9GHZ

I have tried changing the compatibility mode to every Operating system available for the 64 bit BF4 launcher and the 32 bit BF4 launcher, and ive tried this with the Origin launcher. It gives me the same results every time. And still says, I must have windows vista or higher. Well I have Windows 10. And I am upset that I cannot return, or even play a game that I paid for. And what is the saddest part about all of this, Is I could probably pirate the game, and it would work. But I don't want to do that.

I am really upset with Origin, EA, and the game I have paid hard earned money for. I purchased Star wars Battle front at Walmart this morning. And I went to REDEEM it on Origin, and after peeling off my plastic on the game box to type in the serial key. It says, THIS KEY HAS ALREADY BEEN USED! So, I am out another $40 bucks. For nothing. And am not sure what to do.

All I want to do is play a few games on my new GTX1080.. And I keep getting hit with a curve ball every time..

Yeah, that's not really feasible. I'd really go back to EA and make them figure it out. It's their game.

I'd really double check your EXE, go to the origin directory and check the properties of that EXE make sure its not running any compatibility or admin modes.

It's very odd you're experiencing this issue, its 100% software/configuration issue but you have to find out where. Are any other EA titles giving you this problem? Like Battlefront? or Hardline or BF3?

How fresh is your W10 install? Are you a programmer/have you done weird stuff to your system environment variables etc that might have an effect on binaries the game depends on? Worst case, try a clean install and if that doesn't work, then the computer god just doesn't want you to play BF4.

It's unlikely this is EA's fault. While Origin is indeed crap, it's far more likely a Walmart employee opened the boxes, stole the key and then resealed. Good look getting your money back. That's why I always buy digital, avoiding these problems.

As for BF4: I'm fairly certain it's a software issue on your PC.

Make an image of your current installation (Acronis or something like that)
Do a clean install with Windows 7 (download an iso and install it unactivated if you don't have a licence. It's just for testing purposes)
Install the most recent drivers (only drivers, no motherboard "tools")
Install origin
Install BF4
Test and report back.

I had the same issue when buying new from Walmart before, the key had been used even though it was sealed and they were selling it as new. Try to avoid buying from retail in the future, I don't trust employees at those stores anymore.

"Run As Admin" maybe? Or try this..

Completely close Origin (through taskmanager if you have too)

Right-Click on Origin Icon > Properties > Compatibility > Set to your Windows option (Windows 10) > Apply, OK

Completely close Origin again and re-open

Try (see if that worked)
