Soundbar Search

Thread Starter
  1. I wanna stay near $100, but if it's not possible, then I'll spend up towards $300.
  2. I won't use this for music, it'll be more for watching movies, and play video games.
  3. Something that sounds booming, but wont annoy my downstairs neighbor.
  4. I'm going to be hooking up 2 HDMI devices at a time. PC, and a Nvidia Shield or Apple TV.
  5. Will be placed in a large bedroom, for a TV around 55" big.
  6. I live in Philly.
  7. Has to hook up to the TV via HDMI, and have two HDMI inputs.

I'm not looking to for something super high end. The bedroom is around 15x15 feet. It's for at night time, and once in a while during the day. I just don't want something that's going to piss my downstairs neighbor off. Something that is compatible with the Logitech Harmony remotes is a huge plus. I currently have a receiver and nice speakers, but am looking to downsize. I know I won't have the same performance most likely going from 2 Energy Speakers paired with a Denon receiver, to a soundbar. But something close or similar would be nice. Oh, and if it's possible the subwoofer is built into the speaker bar itself, that would also be a plus!

I have very limited experience with sound bars, but I am happy to give you what knowledge I do have.
My TV's are Sony and I happened to get a couple of their soundbars on sale, so I didn't pay the price listed. I got THIS sound bar for $150 almost 3 years ago. I have to say that the sound is awesome!
I am coming from a Yamaha receiver with a Polk Audio RM 5.1 set that I absolutely love. I am sure there is a new/updated version of that soundbar, but I haven't looked for it.

I ended up with the soundbar for the simple fact of simplicity with something much greater than the crappy TV speakers on our TV. It made the wife happy, so it was worth the change. I have to admit, I am still very much happy with the overall sound experience from that bar. I have since "upgraded" to one of their higher tier sound bars, and the difference in the system was about twice the price, but almost negligible sound difference.

I have heard good things about some of the Vizio sound bars as well as the Pol Audio (they are always good in audio).
I will have to do a search again, but this is what I know off the top of my head. Amazon is a descent place to look for some quality units.

Get a Vizio, very good sound and budget conscience. Many price levels to chose from as well.

I actually ended up going with the same Sony, but I ended up spending around $230. My friend has the same soundbar, and it's perfect. Just didn't want to spend more than $250 on it haha. Glad it ended up working out.
