You need to do more than just replace the video card, but thats the only hardware requirement. Patched boot.efi and such.

Just ordered the mac book above

I am using a 2007 macbook which will not let me go any newer than lion, Lion is still usable (I am writing this response on it) but I have to use an older browser (safari, chrome and even firefox don't support lion anymore) and most apps in the app store are not compatible with lion. You might want to find a mac that can run at least Mavericks (10.9) or newer
